Sunset rests and meditates
Sees life in all its states
Smiling sweetly, caressing care
This is needed, we must share.
Love of life not destitute
Living on the edge of gratitude
You are mine and I don’t care
To hold the reins of any old despair.
Travel thru bright, clear day
See the sunset rise
Filling hearts far into
Lovely evening tide.

I have gotten old and grey
Wrinkles on my face display
Time has passed
And alas, that child
No longer runs and plays.
White hair cascades down my face
Leaving passing time to mark me
Full, I hope with grace
All this happening
With the passing of our time.
Our despair, our joyous care
Prepares us each and everyone
For this time when old and grey
See the life we lived
Full, each and every day.

Merry, happiness, frustration and pain
All have a place in this house I claim
None are all that places me here
Some more than others
Thats what I hear.
Work thru and challenge heartache, despair
None of which need to live here.
Open the door to the house I call mine
Tread lightly down passages
Down into time.
Touch walls built so safe and sound
Savour the flavour of the air all around
Then pad down aisles and up thru stairs
Glistening with joyous, uplifting prayers.
Cozy and tranquil is my room
Safe from danger, heartache and doom
This is where I live, this is my room
I claim it, I cherish it, I live life here
From birth to death here in my house
Here in my room.

Today is a day of sadness
Grief and despair
Loss of a life dear to me forever
No words to express or share
Only emotions, raw feelings
The sadness
Deep in the empty void there.
Remorse, gratitude
For the time given and lost
Gone forever
Forever and ever
please don’t despair.
Piecing screams of anguish
Going far away, coming back
Today I remember
Say a prayer for a life
And a way gone forever
Forever and ever
Just despair.
A different path taken
Giving thanks for the lessons
Time spent teaching ways to survive
In a world without him forever
Forever and ever for this day
He died.

Let my journey be free
Free of anguish
Free of anger
Free of hatred and despair
Free of heartache
Free of selfishness
Let my journey be
Free of all of these.
Let my journey be free
Free to choose, to share
Free to grow and feel gratitude
Free to experience compassion
Free to feel joy in all I do
Free to be me
That’s what I need
My journey to be.
