Our Neighbour Died

November 22, 2013

Wayne's Home ~ photo by Patrice

Our neighbour died
He passed away
Gone to heaven
Just today.

Sadness, remorse
Deep regret
Don’t know what happened
Just yet.

Lights on, police car
Soft voices heard
All seems extremely quiet
Even calm.

Most likely
They can’t believe
He’s gone.

Passed away
In the night they say
Just heard he’s gone
Gone yesterday.

Great guy
No more to say
Our neighbour died
He passed away.

Many The Border Cross

September 23, 2013

Many the border cross
Up to the promised land
Where joy
Wonder are lost.

No one is forsaken
Only lost in a world
Of no glory, sadness
Broken hearts.

Turn around
Turn back
The world you live in
Is not the one lost.

Only your way
That’s the thing
Lost.

Sometimes Sadness Falls

September 4, 2013

Sometimes sadness falls
So far
Desperately need not
Feel that scar
Sadness
Melancholy breeding
Gaining ground.

Spreading out
Seeping deep
Within the psychic far
Oh so far around.

Trembling lips reach out
Grabbing, holding on
No hollow
Shallow victory
But a life
Maybe gone.

Tears stream down
Wanting, wailing cheeks
Splattering near
And on hardened ground
No soft tender place Golden in Trouble ~ illustration by Patrice for Dogs in Canada Magazine
To be found.

Hold yourself together
Hold yourself
Up to the light
For even if sadness falls
Make it you who decides
On which kind
A loving
Or hardened ground.

Sadness Day Yesterday

August 20, 2013

Remember Benji ~ photo by Patrice

Sadness day yesterday
Nothing wrong just felt
An overwhelming sad song
Playing havoc in my head
All day long.

Weeping, sleep could not keep
Me from that wrong song
All I could hear was that
Overwhelming sad song
Playing, weeping in my heart
Throughout the day
All day long.

Maybe today that song
That sad song
Will be forever gone
All day long.

Peel Back The Layers

August 12, 2013

Road and Rail Fence ~ photo by Patrice

Peel back the layers
Feel the bad ooze out
Permeating the glad
Spreading like a plague
Full of anguish
Making good things bad.

Sadness too comes along
Melancholy through
And through
Raising no gladness
To the sky
Only morose sadness
Lonely, standing by.

You are right
You are good
To let the layers lie
Just as they should
In their own
Forsaken lullaby.

Nothing gained
Nothing lost
To let badness scuttle off
Please leave those layers
Let them stay
Don’t peel them
Off.

Anticipation

June 4, 2013

Robin's Nest ~ photo by Patrice

Anticipation
Anticipation of what can and will be
Sadness, sorrow
Or
Unprecedented ecstasy
Mine to control
With the best there is
Anticipation
That’s what it is.

Sadness Fails

May 31, 2013

Old House Window ~ photo by Patrice

Sadness fails
Crashes
Hear
The wails.

Monster crawls
Full of regret
Finally getting
What he should
Get.

No remorse
Pity none
Turn the page
Forget
The rage.

Sadness can
No more
Be part of
Hate.

Love Is Essential, Love Is Everything

May 21, 2013

Patrice's Watercolour Art of Misty

Love is essential
Love is everything
Love will bring
Joy and laughter
And things
That sadness
Can never sing.

Love is essential
Love is everything

What Year Is This?

April 18, 2013

What year is this?
Is it the year
Of my freedom, my triumph?
Or just another disaster
I must and will master.

Creeping, crawling through
The sadness, the madness
Striving for some gladness
To dwell here in my heart
When will it start?

When will all this muddy Golden in Trouble ~ art by Patrice
Turmoil leave, depart?
Nothing wrong
Just following along
With the throng.

Yes, nothings wrong
It’s just that
Nothings right
In this year
This year of sadness
I’m living tonight.

She’s Coming Home

March 18, 2013

Loving ~ photo by Jennifer Clark

She’s coming home
I’ll pick her up
No more alone
Forever to stay here
Here at home.

May have sadness
Remorse and regrets
But she will lay
In peace and happiness
Forever, ever to be missed
My sweet
Sweet little miss.

Her soft, rough fur
Her gentle brown, caring eyes
Her tail that never wags
No barks, no romping
A smile upon her sweet face
I may see no more.

But home you’ll be
Home with me
Forever
Evermore.
