It Came In Silence

March 31, 2025
It Came In Silence ~ Photo by Patrice

It came in silence
it came
in broad daylight
dripping
dropping
then
and
throughout the night

Clutching branches
trees
houses
everything in sight

Silently freezing
covering them
in
a grasp
so tight

In horror
we heard a branch
limb
tree
crack
break
falling on lines

Sending silence
to
homes
yesterday
today
tomorrow
and
tonight

Gone
but
leaving
in it’s wake
destruction
devastation
throughout the country

No more silence
only
chainsaws
generators
roaring
every hour
all day
into
dark, dark night

Freezing rain
has
gripped us
all
so tight.

Hope you’re safe! It sounds like an awful ice storm. Maggie

It is! But the strange thing is it came so silently. One minute all’s fine then the lights go out and we’re within an abyss of darkness. That was Saturday at 7.
      Thank goodness for generators!

Yow– the picture really helps tell the story, too. Hope all is well, there.

All is well. Just hoping for hydro to come back on as SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!
We lost cell service this morning, so guess the cell tower has been disabled by the ice.
Some areas won’t get hydro they say, til Wednesday, Thursday. Hope not us! 😳

This is something far too many can relate to and have had to live through
