Have you seen optimistic?
Where, oh where could she be?
At one time she was here
Right beside of me.
She kept me company
Laughed and made me see
The happy, caring way
Just what I need.
But yesterday
She left, she left me
Have you seen optimistic?
If you do, please tell me.

How do I know
Where I’ve been
Where I come from
How did I do the things
I’ve done?
Where will I go
When I’m finished
I’ve completed all
All that I’ve come here
To get done?
Secrets to answer
Questions to ask
I’m sure I’ll never
Be finished with all
These tasks.

The hall is narrow
The ceiling falling down
My way to the living room
Can’t be found.
A method of cooking fills
Mouldy kitchen air
Where cabinets hang
Feeling no loving care.
Nothing to clean away
Night terrors experienced
In a cluttered bedroom
Where sleep is not
Usually assumed.
Another way, another day
Maybe tomorrow will be perfect
Making this just a dream
I dreamed yesterday.

Snow flies
And we answer
Why? Why?
Blizzards blow fierce white
Changing darkness
Into a brilliant seeing night.
Cold with icicles
Dripping down
Covering a frigid, frozen ground.
Rivers run underneath
A covering of ice and snow
Sometimes more than a foot deep.
We live thru this
We
We do exist.

Can I venture to the past?
Relax and enjoy things seen
Fix what wasn’t right
Move forward
To this time I live in now
Confident
My heart will no longer hunger
For what has been and passed.
Can I?
Dare I venture to the past?

When I think of what I’ve done
I wonder how this could be?
I’m a mortal, no one special
But still I see this beauty
Coming from within of me.
Then I realized
That God has given me
All that I am
All that I can be.
He does this with us all
The sunset, the whispering tree
Even that nasty insect
Which bit me on my knee.
God is within us all
And I’m glorified to know
He’s forever within of me.

Why not try to understand
All the confusion swirling round
Like a crazy marching band.
Don’t know where, don’t know why
But somehow I need to cry
Release the hurt, set free the sigh.
Move beyond the crazies
Then maybe, maybe
Understand the reason why.

I’ve been thinking wonderful thoughts
Creating life of something
Nobody thought
Lived or existed before this time
Mine alone, mine, mine.
Now lives not only in my mind
But in the world
Never again to be just a thought
I’m thinking in my head
That nobody else has ever thought.

A robin wings her way south
Buffeting winds
That may drive her off course
Today undaunted
She stays focused on her way
Though wind, rain and snow
She goes to the place
Where the sun glows heat
And where she stays
Til its time once again
To fly north
With all her family and friends.

Some days are sad
In remembering the past
The heartache and anguish
Seems to last and last.
You know years have passed
You know all have moved on
Yet still some days are hard
The sadness seems to go
On and on.
