The tic tock of the clock
goes on and on
holding me captive
with its sound.
The night is dark
the stars hidden away
still the clock ticks
ticks all thru the night
into day.
The pendulum swings
sounding on each hour
each day
signalling time passing
life drifting away.
With each tic
tic tock
my heart beats
beats to the rhythm
of that ticking clock.

Picky partners don’t always last
Sometimes they bicker and fight
It goes on and on
For whatever reason it just
Lasts and lasts.
Picky partners need to let up
Knowing being together
Happily
Is what needs to
Forever last.
