His Mother Was A Beauty

December 7, 2012

His mother was a beauty
Stunning so they say
He followed in her footsteps
Most of the way.

Thou modest and frugal
He did manage to pay
Homage to a father
He knew not one day.

A story so tragic
Steeped in deceit
Holds us captive and
Creeps into our psyche
So painful and bleak.

Master of nothing
No goals to achieve
He languished in heaven
Awaiting he hoped
A reprieve.

Whatever happened
To that beauty so fair?
Did she too die in heaven
Or did she just
Send him there?

Poppies Grow

November 11, 2011

Poppies grow
On the hill
Down the valley
And across the road.

No one knows
How many bow
Giving homage
To those that fell.

Giving their lives
For us to be free
Never once stopping
Turning back round
No, such brave ones
Onward they’d go.

I honor and bow
To the sacrifice they gave
As poppies bow silently
There, at their graves.

Brave men and women
Thank you, is all I can say
For what you have given
I honor you this and all days.
