The Sun Shines Bright

August 28, 2018

River Beauty ~ Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
Mists have blended
Into the water beyond
No one sees bees
No bats fly
In the expanse that surrounds

Nor does anyone hear
The cry
They’re gone, they’re gone

I rest, I sleep
Maybe there I’ll see
And
Seek a world that once here
Belonged.

Why Not Forgive

August 24, 2018

Elephants from the Toronto Zoo, now in the PAWS Wildlife Sanctuary in California ~ Photo by Patrice

Why not forgive, let it go
For you know
The pain is only yours
They don’t care or know.

Don’t let them live
In your heart and soul.

In A World Cold

August 23, 2018

Spider's Web - Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
In a world cold
To hearts of trolls
Who mask dire tragedy
In the midst
Of something seen
As beautiful and bold.

No one can know
The reason why
Nor do they care
For hearts are living
To not experience
Sadness and despair.

I Learn Many Things

August 22, 2018

Tree Roots at Eugina Falls ~ Photo by Patrice

I learn many things
I see many times
The world as it turns
Intertwines.

My heart knows a reason
To decline
The advances of the destructive
Filled with misery kind.

It comes from within
This loving gift coming from
The divine.

What I Say

August 20, 2018

Morning Glories ~ Photo by Patrice

The trouble with what I say
It may be true or cause disarray
Careful with my words
Is what I must remember
Each and everyday.

Blessing to know before I say.

My Heart Wonders

August 10, 2018

Wild Rose ~ Photo by Patrice

My heart wonders where you’ve been
Loved you, lost you, can’t begin.

Anger, sadness creeping in
Gentle kindness hidden somewhere then.

Feel the touch of hearts afire
Smouldering eyes, full of desire.

No one knows where it goes
Bumpy, hilly, soft or kind, rocky crevice ours to find.

Now must go where hearts do flow
No troubles, no big or little cares I’ll know.

For you see, you’ll be in my dreams tonight
Full of love, wonder, so much delight.

There with trembling lips we’ll gently kiss
Sharing loving, sweet night bliss.

Looking Out

August 9, 2018

Hummingbird ~ Photo by Patrice

Looking out upon the vast history
Of life lived
And made better with dignity.

All is well
And will be the best there is
He saids.

As he reaches down
And kisses me
Upon my undeserving head.

There They Fall

August 8, 2018

Impatients amongst a Banana Palm ~ Photo by Patrice

Hear the raindrops fall
Cascading down on dry ground
There they fall.

Bringing life sweet water falls
Trickling over dusty rocks
Feeding parched grass
There they fall.

No wicked blizzard
Harsh winds none at all
Just quiet falling sweet raindrops
There they fall.

Let Me Lift Up My Soul

August 7, 2018

Old Car ~ Photo by Patrice

Let me lift up my soul
My heart, my eyes
To the bright cerulean sky
Let no heart beat
Without a steady beat
No eye cry for a unbeknown
Love that’s died.

Let my feet walk, run
In rhythm with the flowing sun
Shade my head
With kindness, courtesy
Feel no dread
As my arms embrace
The living grace that surrounds
All living.

Seeking not
A world of anguish
But living
Living without knowing
Sadness, pity
There I’ll live
With the upmost dignity.

So Cool Today

August 3, 2018

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Chickadee on Feeder

So cool today a chickadee came
To where the feeder should be
She looked and looked
Then took a flight around
Just to check no seeds were hidden
Near or on the ground.

It’s only August, too soon for seeds
Flowers bloom in all their majesty
But honestly, look closely
I see them shivering
Shaking in the breeze.
