Sadness Fails

May 26, 2017

Sadness fails
Crashes
Hear
The wails.

Monster crawls
Full of regret
Finally getting
What he should
Get.

No remorse
Pity none
Turn the page
Forget
The rage.

Sadness can
No more
Be part of
Hate.

The Smell Of Lilacs Ebbs And Flows

May 19, 2017

Lilacs ~ photo by Patrice

The smell of lilacs ebbs and flows
Over my senses
Taking me back in time
When life was slow
And in pastures green
Children laughing, playing
Running past the stream.

Sweet scented lilacs are my time machine.

I Saw A Hummingbird Amongst Snowflakes

May 12, 2017

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

I saw a hummingbird amongst snowflakes
Shattering life, no respite
Falling into spring cold and shivering
Hovering over brave blooms
As you come to make a summer home
In this land that has no way
To warm and comfort
On this cold spring day.

Fly south I’d say, then wait a day
Before braving storms to come back
To the land you can call
A summer home once more
Yes, I saw a hummingbird
Amongst snowflakes just today.

Pleasure, Focus Let It Be

April 28, 2017

Pleasure, focus let it be
The main thing
To bring you
To your destiny.

Happiness is not something
You leave outside
But accompanies you inside
Staying by you thru all
Thats going to be.

Laugh, joke
See the reason
The sun does rise
Leaving behind dark
Brooding skies.

Your choice all this be
Happiness, pleasure
Laugh and see.

All I Can Know

January 9, 2017

Filtered Sun ~ Photo by Patrice

All I can know
You have given me.

Nothing is left
Out of my destiny.

No heart pumps
Without a soul,

No mind smiles
Unless they know.

There Was A Time When We Were Old

December 16, 2016

There was a time when we were old
We’d laugh and cry as life did unfold
No remorse for things gone by
Only clamour for a sweet
Haunting lullaby.

Ancient wrinkles on a child’s face
Laughing, crying filled with grace
No honour lost, no rushing pace
No deadline met, only loving grace
Masking love on a loving face.

In a time gone by we may have met
Laughed and cried, no heartache wept
What a wondrous thing
When we were young and therefore old
In a time when we spun together
Treasures made of gold.

I Dreamed Last Night

November 18, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

I dreamed last night
And
I don’t know why.

I dreamed last night
Of a time gone by
Of power and might
And travel
At the speed of light.

I dreamed last night
The world is old
We have been here
For years untold.

I dreamed last night
Of losing power and might
Living
In bewilderment and strife.

I dreamed last night
From elsewhere we came
On a flash of light
Brightening the sky
Lighting the night.

This I dreamed last night.

Wandering Thru My Heartland

March 14, 2016

Carolina Tree ~ Photo by Patrice

Wandering thru my heartland
Down by the meadow where an old tree stands
No one knows the meadow nor the stream tricking by
Only robins and larks sing the way to the meadow
Where squirrels sleep and play near by.

May my wandering thru grasses
Growing tall in that sweet meadow
Hold my thoughts as here I stand
Seeing love growing old, gracing all
In my meadow, in my meadow’s heartland.

Not Knowing

February 8, 2016

Robin's Nest in Snow ~ Photo by Patrice

Not knowing what will occur
Or sure what’s been done
Then
Slowly I realize I belong
To the world’s outcome.

I see the happy and good in all this
Despair
Giving joy for now I know
Going back or staying
I just can’t be there.

Feeling excitement
Seeing the future unfold
With sharing, giving love
Something right now
I know
I don’t know or hold.
