You Gave Your Heart

August 26, 2014

Razor's Edge Bentley

Razor’s Edge Bentley

You gave your heart
You gave it all
Gentle kindness was not all
Power, wise and strong
You did it all, you did no wrong
Stubborn some say, but a few
A wonder dog named Benny

That was you.

My Heart Wonders

August 22, 2014

Wild Rose ~ Photo by Patrice

My heart wonders where you’ve been
Loved you, lost you, can’t begin.

Anger, sadness creeping in
Gentle kindness hidden somewhere then.

Feel the touch of hearts afire
Smouldering eyes, full of desire.

No one knows where it goes
Bumpy, hilly, soft or kind, rocky crevice ours to find.

Now must go where hearts do flow
No troubles, no big or little cares I’ll know.

For you see, you’ll be in my dreams tonight
Full of love, wonder, so much delight.

There with trembling lips we’ll gently kiss
Sharing loving, sweet night bliss.

Feeling The Fruits Of My Malay

August 21, 2014

Feeling the fruits of my malay
Pulling there and this way
Struggling to be free, struggling to be me
In this fight that wants to control
The very essence
That makes up this body and fills my soul.

So Much Has Changed

August 20, 2014

Golden Eagle ~ illustration by Patrice

So much has changed
The world is not, not the same.

Death, anger, disarray

Where do I belong in this change
Playing out on what seems a sunny day.

Getting Old

August 19, 2014

Mom and Twiggy ~ Photo by Patrice

Getting old
Is not for the mild or meek
Tough road lies ahead bolstered
From those already dead.

Aches and pains constant
Even if only in your head
Hip replaced, arteries clogged
Fingers arthritic and sometimes
The mind is just a smog.

That’s when you think of yesterday
Fill your heart with thoughts
That only knew life in a form of play.

Getting old
Will or won’t take those times away.

Temporary, That’s What They Say

August 18, 2014

Beardie in a Pot ~ Illustration by Patrice

Temporary, that’s what they say
Lasting longer, not happening
No way, no way.

Savour while it lasts
Then go about
Go about your day.

Knowing the best has come
Has visited you
Visited you and stayed.

Just a little while
A little while
Today.

So Cool Today

August 15, 2014

Chickadee on Feeder

So cool today a chickadee came
To where the feeder should be
She looked and looked
Then took a flight around
Just to check no seeds were hidden
Near or on the ground.

It’s only August, too soon for seeds
Flowers bloom in all their majesty
But honestly, look closely
I see them shivering
Shaking in the breeze.

Bright Sky Glistens In The Trees

August 12, 2014

Morning Glories ~ Photo by Patrice

Bright sky glistens in the trees
Flowers reach and bees consume
Nectar rich in sweet, sweet bounty
Gentle smells, sounds relaxing
When breezes carry ease to me
The mighty sun looks down
And sees.
