Before The Trials Of The Day Takeover

August 22, 2012

Before the trials
Of the day takeover
Touch down
And feel the spirit
Of your soul.

Know where today
For today
You are.

Go forward
With that knowledge
Forward to forever.

We Are Here And Everywhere

August 21, 2012

We are here and everywhere
We shall care and shouldn’t dare
All that lives within our atmosphere.

They live here as we do
And help us through all
This heavy burdened stratosphere.

We should care and treasure us
That we must for what else
Is there here or anywhere?

A leopard does not change his spots, we just see the other side.

Rosie Doesn’t Care

August 17, 2012

Rosie doesn’t care
Rosie has no hair
Rosie is not here
Nor is she there
Rosie’s somewhere
But she doesn’t care.

Who is Rosie?
Why doesn’t she care?

I must share Rosie is always here
And she does care.

May The Injury You Feel

August 16, 2012

May the injury you feel not be so. Let it only reside in your mind where it can be viewed as unimportant, a trifle. Or erased forever.

I’ve Always Had That Gentle Soul

August 15, 2012

I’ve always had that Gentle Soul
Guiding me thru tough
Tumultuous times
At my side she’d be
When no one else did care.

That Gentle Soul would reach down
Pick me up, quietly set me
On the proper path
Never asked, always there
To help guide me anywhere.

That Gentle Soul has saved my life
Guided me thru all kinds of strife
I owe so much, I must give back
Kindness to those on their own path.

That Gentle Soul has guided me
Now I must do the same for thee.

I Remember When

August 13, 2012

I remember when
It was bliss and happiness.
The world was mine
To chose to do
Whatever I choose to do.

No restrictions, no what ifs
Nothing to dim the mix.
Talented, optimistic
That’s what I saw.

I could do it all
Cut thru the impossible
Walk on water
Anything and everything.
Yes, I could do it all.

I smile to see
Those thoughts
That dwelt inside of me.
For life is different now
Than what I did expect.

Not so bad
For I did get
That needed in
Fulfilling my soul
Becoming
What God expects.

Lone Dog

August 10, 2012

I created this blog to showcase my art, photos and writing. But today for the first time I want to have a guest poet. This is a poem that had a profound effect on me when I first read it many, many years ago. I’ve never forgotten it and today I would like to share it with you.

The poet, Irene Rutherford, wrote such beautiful poetry. Please enjoy. ~ Patrice

Lone Dog

I’m a lean dog, a keen dog, a wild dog, and lone;
I’m a rough dog, a tough dog, hunting on my own;
I’m a bad dog, a mad dog, teasing silly sheep;
I love to sit and bay the moon, to keep fat souls from sleep.

I’ll never be a lap dog, licking dirty feet,
A sleek dog, a meek dog, cringing for my meat,
Not for me the fireside, the well-filled plate,
But shut door, and sharp stone, and cuff and kick, and hate.
Not for me the other dogs, running by my side,
Some have run a short while, but none of them would bide.
O mine is still the lone trail, the hard trail, the best,
Wide wind, and wild stars, and hunger of the quest!

Irene Rutherford Mcleod. 1891– 1968?
