So much to say
So little paper to write it
All out
What so many people are laughing
Talking about.
Suffice to say
When I find that scrap of paper
Filed somewhere
Yesterday
I’ll laugh and cry.
Because even then
I know there’s been
So much to say
So little paper to write it
All out.

The farther I go
The farther away
I get from
What has happened
Yesterday.
Seeking no remorse
Nothing to say
All is in the past
That I did
Yesterday.
Maybe tomorrow
When I’m farther away
Maybe then
I’ll understand the past
All that happened
Yesterday.

I live in the past
I see those days
I hear that heartbeat
Unable to make
Those old thoughts
Go away.
But
Not all sadness I feel
For joy and gladness
Support me today
I know I had, had it all
In the life I lived
Yesterday.

Have you seen optimistic?
Where, oh where could she be?
At one time she was here
Right beside of me.
She kept me company
Laughed and made me see
The happy, caring way
Just what I need.
But yesterday
She left, she left me
Have you seen optimistic?
If you do, please tell me.

No makeup on today
Or yesterday
Skin festering, itching burning
Hives have made their way
Onto my face, my neck
Above my heart
Everywhere it seems
Gasping for some respite
Scratched raw
Went seeking help
Not once but twice
Yesterday.

The world has turned again
For today
I have my peace, my rest
Skin reduced to normal
Not like yesterday
On rising this morning, today
No more itching
Scratching
Like yesterday.

This day is today
It’ll be tomorrow
Yesterday.
Can’t live without it
Yet see it pass away
Becoming a time in
Yesterday.
No longer tomorrow
Now today I’m living
Yesterday.

I’m not sure what I’ll write
Something about yesterday
Maybe something
That will occur tonight.
No rules in place
No sayings to follow
Just hear that soft voice speak
And my writing, my words
They follow.
~ Patrice

The idea came
I think yesterday
All laden in glory, no more can I say.
The idea came
I don’t know from where
Out of the blue it was just was there.
The idea came
Quietly
No bolt of thunder or shouts of ecstasy.
So I must get busy, work away
And make it real
This idea that came to me yesterday.

A hummingbird came
To my window yesterday
She pleaded and begged
Me not to put away
That feeder which fills
Her each, everyday.
She needs calories
To fly away
On an epic journey
To warm, hot lands
Far far away.
Maybe tomorrow
She’ll leave
Before the snow flies
And the leaves
Are deceased.
So now, today
She pleads
Fill it up, leave it be
Help her get ready
For her long, long
Epic journey.
