I Watch The Squirrels Fight ~ Photos by Patrice

I watch the squirrels fight 
edging out one another 
for a place at the feeder 
for
just another bite. 

Sometimes
there’s a truce 

Sometimes
a bitter fight 

Sometimes
a lone squirrel 
eats
til he feels suffice. 

Birds keep their distance 
stay out of the fight 
they wait their turn 
a time when
all others have had their fill 

All’s quiet 

No more anger 

No more strife.

    My birds squabble at the bird feeder. Then the squirrels and the rabbits stop by to eat all the seeds that fell on the ground when the squabbling is over. 😀
