Falling asleep
staying awake
the same
but
a difference
I can’t contemplate. 

Each night
when
I go to bed
I wonder which one
will be swirling round
in
my head. 

My body must follow
my feet align
for
whatever happens
it’ll start right there
in
my head. 

Falling asleep
or
staring straight ahead.
