Quietly

Quietly
I said the words
I know will take me through
everything
I need to go.

Quietly I spoke
a smile upon my face
for I knew the words
would go out
way out into space
where once again their meaning
would replace
all the hatred consuming
leaving scars across the land
across our face.

Quietly I hope
my words will come true
so
together in this world
we’ll know
only
tenderness and love
even if it’s
just we two.
