I may no longer
Be firmly in your presence
I may be a memory now
Only a thought
A time in your life.
But I’m still here
In that thought
or a glint in your eye
A soft word spoken
To show, to guide.
No longer can I caress
With a hand you can see
But I’m here
Feel my breath as the breeze
Blows gently
That’s me.
Hear my heart
Now silent beat
When you see
A beautiful flower
A tree bend in the wind
Hear me.
No sad words need to be said
Over top of the berth
I now call my bed
For I have gone
To a place full of grace.
Kindness, radiant
Loving light fill this world
I’m now in
Gentle ones share, care
They hold me in.
Please don’t despair
Because I’m no longer there
In a form you’ve known
For I’m here
I’m still here.

We all sit here
Giving not a thought of summer’s hot
Seeds drop here and there
We flutter about with what seems
Not a care
Blissful in winter’s coat
We peck and munch
No time to crack a silly joke.
Santa’s’ coming soon
We hear
But to him we don’t give a care
For we see him
Flying in
Bringing packages
None which
Are for me, you, I or him,
We just sit here
Eating seeds
Life’s good it appears
It seems.

Enjoying the moment
Enjoying the scene
All its well
And in some instances
Serene.
Blessed be this moment
This moment I’m in
Only me in this moment
And never to occur
Again.

My thoughts race
I pace the floor
Could it be
Could I possibly
Have more?
My heart is open
It feels good fortune’s
Gentle rays
Come flooding in.
My head spins
My ears roar
My thoughts race
As my jaw drops
Beneath my chin
To the floor.

Every morning I paint a face
The one I want to show
Moving thru the day
With beauty and with grace
I apply colours sometimes
In vibrant broad, happy strokes
Other times I can’t help
The lines are blue
They weep, they cry
Hues blended in a colour
That represents the reason why.
A smile I paint upon that face
Covering the worried lines
The anger
I hope not to find
Each morning I paint colours
To show love, beauty and grace
There on my face
With a special brush that covers all
The tired, frightened lines
I paint
Every morning I paint a face.

Tenderly, I think of you
For the world was right
When I could hold you
With no forsaken thoughts
On my mind
As we laughed and talked
And oh so tender
Were those thoughts.
Tenderly, I think of you
You were my world
You gave me life
You showed me how
To navigate throughout
Any cursed strife
To hold on, to believe
For you gave me love
Tenderly.

I saw a hummingbird today
Still here, hasn’t flown away
Cold nights must take a bite
Still here
Couldn’t believe my eyes
My ears.
A hummingbird flew
To the feeder so low
Thought of emptying
Sure all hummingbirds gone
Then there she was hovering
Sitting, sipping sweet nectar
In the cold rainy air.
Still here, hasn’t started
On her long flight
Sleeping thru, keeping warm
In the cold fall nights
Drinking sweet water
Filling up to embark
On a long, arduous flight.
Maybe today will be the day
She’ll fly away
Still
I saw a hummingbird
A hummingbird flew to the feeder
Today.

I find my heart cold
In charge of no life
Making no sound
Finding no life.
Lonely of course
Hardened and cruel
Seeking no justice
A master I’m sure
That is such a fool.
Sudden I hear
A kindness roar
Blood pulsing inside
Like opening a door.
For my heart is alive
Beating with life
Coursing with love
Creating a good life.
