The Sun Shines Bright

September 12, 2018

Sun Flower ~ Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
Morning, noon and into night
Radiating heat
Blending, making rivers flow
Plants grow, the earth breathe.

Life lives because of the sun
Its rays beaming from very far
Bringing life, birthing life
Here and on distant planets
Like so many stars.

Feel the heat, feel the glow
Feel it and know
The sun gives all she’s got
And thou she doesn’t ask
We should find a way
A way to give back.

Don’t Know The Reason

Don’t know the reason
Don’t know the why
Still saddened by the outcome
Even if time has so long gone by.

Prayers for those lost
Prayers for those taken
All have paid
Such a unbelievable cost.

Don’t know the reason
Don’t know the why
Saddened by the outcome
All I do is cry, cry.

My thoughts and prayers are with all victims of 9/11.

Horse and Cattle ~ Painting by Patrice

Searching, seeking
Where I need to be
Wondering
What will be, be my destiny.

Answers come
From where I don’t know when
Answers
I didn’t know or need til then.

The Sky Is Filled

August 29, 2018

Deep Green Sea ~ Photo by Patrice

The sky is filled with optimism
No bird tweets lies
Nor does a bear weep
Wail or cry.

All is filled with beauty
And love
Not one seeks
To be denied.

We live, we love
And one day
We will surely die.

I Sit Here In My Splendour

August 27, 2018

Study of hands and paint brushes ~ illustration by Patrice for New Chalice Brushes

I sit here in my splendour
Wondering where do I begin
It isn’t any other
It’s me
And I have to contend
With the matter, the matter
I laughed about
Now it’s everything
Everything I hold within.

Let Me Lift Up My Soul

August 7, 2018

Old Car ~ Photo by Patrice

Let me lift up my soul
My heart, my eyes
To the bright cerulean sky
Let no heart beat
Without a steady beat
No eye cry for a unbeknown
Love that’s died.

Let my feet walk, run
In rhythm with the flowing sun
Shade my head
With kindness, courtesy
Feel no dread
As my arms embrace
The living grace that surrounds
All living.

Seeking not
A world of anguish
But living
Living without knowing
Sadness, pity
There I’ll live
With the upmost dignity.

So Cool Today

August 3, 2018

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Chickadee on Feeder

So cool today a chickadee came
To where the feeder should be
She looked and looked
Then took a flight around
Just to check no seeds were hidden
Near or on the ground.

It’s only August, too soon for seeds
Flowers bloom in all their majesty
But honestly, look closely
I see them shivering
Shaking in the breeze.

I Come To Be

August 2, 2018

Lazy Summer Days ~ Watercolour Painting by Patrice

In the morning I come to be
In my joyous place laughing, happy
All as it should be.

As a mourning dove gives it’s plaintive call
Cars pass knowing nothing of my life
Not at all.

Birds sing, squirrels jump from branch to branch
On the hunt for the perfect breakfast,
Dinner, lunch.

Flowers bloom, waving petals in a quiet breeze
While a fly buzzes, irritating for sure
But still a life that lives, that breathes.

Honestly, Can’t Remember Anything

July 18, 2018

My Younger Self ~ Selfie

Honestly, can’t remember anything
Nor who I am in another life
I’m sure I lived and had command
Of all the things
In a life I can’t remember
Don’t understand.

I Was In Your Place

July 13, 2018

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

I was in your place, I saw your face
But
You didn’t recognize me.

In another life we laughed and cried
‘Friends for Life’ we said that’s how it would be
But
Now I see you don’t recognize me
I’m just a face in a ordinary place
And you walked right pass me
No ‘Friends for Life’
What a state it has come to be.

Just the other day I was in your place
Saw your face
But
You didn’t recognize me.
