Falling asleep
staying awake
the same
but
a difference
I can’t contemplate.
Each night
when
I go to bed
I wonder which one
will be swirling round
in
my head.
My body must follow
my feet align
for
whatever happens
it’ll start right there
in
my head.
Falling asleep
or
staring straight ahead.

Do you know me?
Do you wake in the night
Wondering how I could be?
Is your first thought in the morning about me?
Your last question as your eyes fall asleep
Is it, is it all about me?
I didn’t think so
I knew it wouldn’t be
Cause I never think of you
And
You don’t know me.

The hope I had
the hope
I say
will take me thru
this day, all days.
I don’t
have to say
a word out loud
or
think the feeling
but
send it
up to the clouds
where rain will bring it
down
upon all creatures
big and small
giving hope
to today
and
forever to us all.

Keep me whole
keep me
sane
all the rest I’ll handle
as
I pass down the road
to
the lane.
I may
not
know everything
I may
be
just a little spoke
in
all the world’s happenings.
This I know
but
if
you keep me whole
keep
me sane
I’m positive
I can do almost anything.

you near
nothing will harm you
I am here.
The world may turn
spin around
but
here we’ll be
on
solid ground.

As I sit here
and
think
my mind comes
to see
all the treasures
I’ve found
those yet to be
I will not cry
I won’t
plead
cause all I have, need
is
right here
in front of me
So savour
it
indulge in it
for
you see
sitting here I now see
all I need
to see.

Criminal it is
no doubt that it is
and
why does no one
say
the words
to stop it
today?
Today
is when
no more
no more is what
it should be
There’s no doubt
it’s
criminal
criminal it be.

When
I look back
I see a life so different
so not
the present me
My heart
beats
my eyes see
but
not the way
the way it use to be
Maybe
I’ve grown
maybe I’ve lived
different lives
from an enfant
to
that young girl
oh so lost, asking why
Then
I seen my life
my existence
in a frame
of nature’s beauty
full of kindness
and
singing so sweet
It became the basis
of
how I live
how
I enjoy and love
Letting go
of
anger
sadness so bleak
those things lived
back there
in
yesterday
Those things I now do not seek.

I hate to say
what
I must say
there’s no other way.
I hope you hear
the words
I say.
I hope you
feel
their meaning
and
the feelings
my heart gives to them.
For then
together
may we walk
together.
Even though you
too
hate the words
I say.

Can you hear
mine?
Whatever happened to
we’d sing together
and
things were
so divine?
None of this happens
none
of these things
can we find
So sing
in
your loudest voice
sing
til
the sun don’t shine
And
I’ll sing
I’ll surely sing
in
mine.
