what
I must do
I don’t need that
I just need
you

I need you
to say
words of kindness
love
gentle things
that
no one else can
convey

Tell me
these things
tell me
today, all day
everyday
I pray.

Don’t tell me
I must be the same
same as you, not me.

Don’t tell me
my beating heart
doesn’t count.

Don’t tell me
my thoughts are just lies.

Don’t tell me
the tears I weep will never
bring back ones lost.

Don’t tell me this
I ask of you
I plead, I cry.
