I wrote this 4 years ago but believe it still applies today.
Something to strive for, to accomplish.
Patrice’s Art & Poetry Blog
Once more I write 2013. Still strange and scary in some way.
Gone, lost, done is the 2012 year.
Whatever I had wanted to accomplish in that year
I did – or – I didn’t.
It has ended now and I can’t change one bit of it.
Regrets? Yes.
Devastating? Most certainly.
Truly heart-warming? Yes, and much more.
Now I must move on, make this new year the best that I can.
Will I have setbacks and heartache?
Most likely.
But I know I will also have experiences that will take me to the top.
Joy, happiness, success and most of all, love.
This I know because I will make it so.
This is my plan. My resolution for this new year.
Come join me, make it your best year yet. Filled with happiness, love and those wonderful experiences that will carry you thru any dark days that do occur.
And be…

Decisions to make
Without hours to decide
A path right for me
No one else can see
Nor can I tell someone else
What is best for me.
Decisions that are right
Not made in haste
Maybe in the middle of the night
Don’t second guess
Believe
Let go of the rest.
Decisions that see
Answers small, big or wee
Yours whether you take
The left path or veer right
Go with what your soul tells you
Tells you to do, tonight.

Struggling with the absurb
Making no allowances
For the ones that deny.
Moving forward with assurance
Knowing only right
Can prevail.
Nothing is for nothing
Wondering what it is
That keeps me out of hell.

I didn’t draw, I wouldn’t paint
Little love, lots of hate
Time stood still
And seemed to crawl
No one knew
What could or would be all.
Focused on the wrong thing then
Didn’t know what was up
Or around the bend.
Hardship was a constant friend
Little laughter to ease my way
Just disaster each turn I made.
Then they came and held me up
Turned me round to see the light
Not just of love
But a grandeur life
Stroked my soul, made things right
This they did for me one night.
They stood behind, smiled and laughed
No judgement made in this my craft
What took so long?
You might ask
But only those who know
Can answer that.

The parcel is wrapped and ready to go
To someone deserving this I know
But please let them see
Love wrapped happily and ready to go
To someone who’ll cherish it
And then let it go.
Don’t worry if it’s proper
Don’t worry if it’s right
Just send it off wrapped
Full of love
Tied lovingly tight.
Don’t wait for an answer
Nor expect one soon
Your love is the answer
Yours or someone who opens the parcel
All wrapped and ready to go
On to the world there to bestow
True love forever
Wherever it goes.
So just wrap a parcel
Fill it with love
Give it to someone
In need of a hug.

Checking out the reason
Knowing the answer why
Crying for the blessed
Never understanding
Or asking why.
Don’t call the known
Nor respond to the one
That wishes only to die
Just moving forward
Hoping that right
Is the only reason why.

Knowing who I am is hard to acknowledge
When the world tries its damnedest
To change what I am.

Bending low the master helps
The student rise high
Above the atmosphere
Rising into brilliant skies
Where no restrictions
Can hold him down.
The world is his
He wears it as a crown
Turning now to stoop
So low
To assist another
To this hallowed ground.
He praises those
That got him here
Rendering love
That does abound
Does appear.

In the hospital
What’s the matter?
They are busy and I lie here
Can’t decipher all this clatter.
Pain is deep
But not a smatter
Compared to those around.
Want so dear not to be here
Go home, I want to go home
That is what’s the matter.
Looked in the mirror
An old lady peered
Looking back at me.
Smile at her, be nice to her
For she will be the one to get
You out of here.

Every morning I paint a face
The one I want to show
Moving thru the day
With beauty and with grace
I apply colours sometimes
In vibrant broad, happy strokes
Other times I can’t help
The lines are blue
They weep, they cry
Hues blended in a colour
That represents the reason why.
A smile I paint upon that face
Covering the worried lines
The anger
I hope not to find
Each morning I paint colours
To show love, beauty and grace
There on my face
With a special brush that covers all
The tired, frightened lines
I paint
Every morning I paint a face.
