* Each day this week, I’m going to be posting writings that came to me in the middle of the night after watching a documentary on Janis Joplin. Whether it is Janis writing these words thru me, or my perception of what I watched, I have no idea. Yours to decide and I hope, enjoy.

I was the girl who stood in the back
I was the one who didn’t say any of that
I was the one who laughed and cried
I was the one who breathed the breath
Who stood alone amongst the rest
Never knowing my heart
I think, I guess.

* This the third in my series of Janis Joplin inspired works.

Smoky hearts filled the room
Lights were dim shadows seemed to loom
Fear was present, it cast its spell
No one moved they couldn’t tell
Right from wrong nor which was hell
Quietly left, I snuck away
Hoping to live even one more day.

* This the second in my series of Janis Joplin inspired works.
When the magic feather floats down
When I can’t see anyone else around
When purple haze looms so near
When fountains float above the atmosphere
And even goats don’t smoke
Is when some folks will say
Tomorrows gone, now called yesterday.
~ Patrice

Discovering the character of Janis Joplin and exploring her two different sides is explained by JANIS: LITTLE GIRL BLUE director Amy Berg.
