I have been
in
a terrible place
that’s where
I’ve been
I suffered
I cried
but
nothing changed
it’s where I lived
I’ve been
Then
my world changed
a light that
had been so low
so dim
shone brightly
It lit up
all my sorrows
made them disappear
grow small
and
not as grim
I’m grateful
for that
that guided me
that
saved me
For now
I walk in happiness
no matter
what happened in another time
way back
then.

A sentimental journey
I have taken
today
down the old path
into history’s
yesterday
Reliving things
from the past
some I wish
I didn’t remember
of
that time
yesterday
Then I hear
the call
the call I heard
too
on that day
yesterday
Telling me
I’m on a journey
I need to relive
not only
yesterday
But
today
to know where
I’ve come from
where
I travelled
To bring me
here
all the way
from
yesterday.

Two years ago yesterday, my friend, Patsy passed away.
She had a lifelong disability that made walking stilted and slow. But that didn’t stop her! Oh no, she walked miles for years. Even walked to town for her groceries. Sometimes someone drove her home but if they didn’t, she walked back with her groceries!!! And it’s a 20 minute drive on a good day on a dirt road with steep, STEEP hills.
As she got into her 70’s, it became more difficult for her to go far. There came a time when she could only make it to our driveway, rest and go back home.
I put this chair out for her to rest. Sometimes she’d come on in and visit before heading home.
The chair goes out each year at this time. Just in case she’s on a little walk and needs a break.
Miss you Patsy – you were a special person 💖
Holding on, holding still
waiting for the world
to explain itself
when
we ask
the question
Why?
But
that question
answered
is nothing that’ll
stop
the world turning
no it won’t
But still. . .
