My Heart’s Memories

May 8, 2026

I went back after several years, to the place where I grew up.
The place where I had many happy times and wonderful memories.

I was overwhelmed to see what time has done.

My Heart’s Memories ~ Photo by Patrice

My Heart does break
My soul knows
The past has gone
It exists
No more.

Times remembered
Times
From long ago past
Have faded in my memory
But
I thought
They’d last and last.

The land has covered
Over
The lane we used to walk
Trees died
Their stark bodies bent
Cracking in the wind
While bushes have overgrown
Where happiness
Should’ve been.

Surrounded
By empty, barren fields
Flourishing weeds covering in
What used to be
Fertile land growing crops
That
Nurtured creatures
Way back then.

Only memories
Now
Only fading memories
Of what was but not now
Or
Ever again.

Solely You Are The One

May 5, 2026
Solely You Are The One ~ Photo by Patrice

Solely you are the one
solely

What will happen
when you
you’re all done?

Will someone else take over?

Will the job be gone
be done?

I don’t have the answers
I only know
that

Solely
solely you are the one.

May

May the trees survive winter
Blossom in the spring
Sending forth life
Giving all, nourishing.

May the sun rise in the morning
Rest asleep at night
To come up the next morning
Bringing warmth, love
And fields of waving buttercup delight.

May the seeds dropped in fall
Spring, rise, growing tall
Spreading roots out for nourishment
Leaves reaching up, growing
Til the fall.

May the wind blow breezes
Both strong or gentle
And then not at all.

May they bring on currents
Moisture, rain to quench
The thirst of everyone
Everyone, everything and all.

May, may we live
May we live us all.

Close By And Very Close

Close By And Very Close ~ Photo by Patrice

Close by
and
very close
the world seems
to fly by

We watch it go
wondering
should we be
onboard
or
just let it ride
let it go?

The Merry-Go-Round

The Merry-Go-Round ~ Photo by Patrice

Round, round
the merry-go-round
we go.

Not a thought
in
the world
just round
round
the merry
the merry-go-round.

The Hope

The Hope ~ Photo by Patrice

The hope I had
the hope
I say
will take me thru
this day, all days.

I don’t
have to say
a word out loud
or
think the feeling
but
send it
up to the clouds
where rain will bring it
down
upon all creatures
big and small
giving hope
to today
and
forever to us all.

Keep Me Whole, Keep me Sane

April 8, 2026
Keep Me Whole, Keep me Sane ~ Photo by Patrice

Keep me whole
keep me
sane
all the rest I’ll handle
as
I pass down the road
to
the lane.

I may
not
know everything
I may
be
just a little spoke
in
all the world’s happenings.

This I know
but
if
you keep me whole
keep
me sane
I’m positive
I can do almost anything.

When I Look Back

March 30, 2026
When I Look Back ~ Photo by Patrice

When
I look back
I see a life so different
so not
the present me

My heart
beats
my eyes see
but
not the way
the way it use to be

Maybe
I’ve grown
maybe I’ve lived
different lives
from an enfant
to
that young girl
oh so lost, asking why

Then
I seen my life
my existence
in a frame
of nature’s beauty
full of kindness
and
singing so sweet

It  became the basis
of
how I live
how
I enjoy and love

Letting go
of
anger
sadness so bleak
those things lived
back there
in
yesterday

Those things I now do not seek.

St Pat’s Day

St Pat's Day ~ Photo by Patrice

St Pat’s Day
is
special
in
a multitude of ways.

The snakes left
shamrocks blew in the breeze
while
elves and fairies
did as they pleased.

All the rest danced
a jig
in the green grass
under
restless trees.
