Deadly night giving way
To joy of a dawning new day
Darkness swept away.
Bright, clear light
Soothing frightened spirits
Embracing tattered souls.
Raising up their kind hearts
Holding til they alone can do
Tragic loss gaining something new.
Be kind, be felt
For you in turn
Shall do.

Today I remember
Someone great
Great to me.
Someone
Who gave me life
And is forever
Part of me.
Someone
Who took the time
And began the task
Of making me, me.
Someone
Wise and talented
Knowing when
To be still
And when to be.
Someone
Whose life
Was not often easy
But she accepted
The task
And made it be
What it must be.
That someone
Was my mother
Someone
Always great to me.
I miss you and remember
You’ll always be
Someone great
Great to me.

The end of winter, Please be near. No more blizzards No more watching ‘up to their bellies’ deer. Just the soft trickle of springtime rain As it washes away winter rubbish once again. The chirp of robins hunting worms Green, green grass alongside blooming herbs. Yes, that’s what I am looking for, That’s what I need. So the end of winter, please, please, PLEASE! ~ Patrice © Patrice Clarkson – 2011

Three years ago tomorrow,
Monty died today.
I Feel the sadness and the pain
Just like it was yesterday.
He stayed with us a little longer
Not for himself, but to help make us stronger,
To be able to accept that final day.
Three years ago tomorrow,
When Monty died today.
To cherish and remember
All that was good and dear.
About Monty,
who three years ago tomorrow
Died today.
The last day of February,
The 29th to be exact
Which tomorrow isn’t there
So, three years ago tomorrow,
Monty died today.

Freezing is freezing
And then there is freezing.
Not much else can be said
Other than it’s freezing.
I mean it’s freezing and freezing.
Keep yourself toasty, snugly warm
Never think freezing, only warm, warm warm.
Because it’s freezing
I mean it’s freezing and freezing.
Don’t go out, stay yourself in
Get a good book, maybe a bottle of gin
Because outside, it’s freezing
I mean it’s freezing and freezing.
No one will mind or notice you gone,
Because their busy, keeping from freezing,
Keeping themselves warm,
Because it’s freezing
I mean it’s freezing and freezing.
See you in spring
As the buds open and flower.
When it’s hot, not freezing
I mean not freezing and freezing,
But hot, hot and warm.
