Halloween comes creeping
To the door
All withered, stooped asking for
Trick or treat
Maybe something more
Smiling toothless face leering
Into vacant space
Blood dripping onto gruesome cheek
Screeching voices crack the night
Laughing hysterically
No remorse if no treat tonight.
Now fear is my plight
Quickly shove
The treat out the door
Into grasping bags
Til no more
Smiling it seems in pleasant surprise
When in fact I fear I have died
Slam the door
Lock it quick
Make sure there is no trick.
Cut the lights
Curtains drawn
Sit in darken space
Hoping monsters, witches
Will not be back
Nor leave some gruesome trace.

A leaf falls
it’s life has come to a end
dropping down amongst other leaves
on a dead, barren ground.
A leaf falls
before air is awful cold
with frost foretelling things to come
darkness, winter, frozen bitter cold all day
then at night.
A leaf falls
it doesn’t care about the cold
it’s life has lived in warmth, breezes moist
hot atmosphere and now
A leaf falls
a life lived in full circle
from spring to early winter long.

Hear the skies thunder
The clouds roar
Magnificence is here
To ponder
To support and store
All the love in the world
Forever
Forever more.

Feeling, reaching out, holding close
Not sure what this is all about.
Taste the anger, spit it out
Drink deep love, give it to all
All about.
See the sun rise, breathing life
Into a blue, sweet sky.
Experience the night
Enveloping all in a blanket warm and pure
Kept safe til darkness disappears.
I feel this, I reach out, hold close
For I now know what it’s all about.

Every morning I paint a face
The one I want to show
Moving thru the day
With beauty and with grace
I apply colours sometimes
In vibrant broad, happy strokes
Other times I can’t help
The lines are blue
They weep, they cry
Hues blended in a colour
That represents the reason why.
A smile I paint upon that face
Covering the worried lines
The anger
I hope not to find
Each morning I paint colours
To show love, beauty and grace
There on my face
With a special brush that covers all
The tired, frightened lines
I paint
Every morning I paint a face.

Waves of thunder cross the sky
Rain falls obliterating any peaceful scene
My heart wails in anguish
Horrified by what
I’ve seen.
May tomorrow ride the wave
Of sunlight streaming
Streaming across a quiet
Peaceful scene.
And I will rest in peace
Knowing life goes on
No matter what I feel
I’ve seen.

Tenderly, I think of you
For the world was right
When I could hold you
With no forsaken thoughts
On my mind
As we laughed and talked
And oh so tender
Were those thoughts.
Tenderly, I think of you
You were my world
You gave me life
You showed me how
To navigate throughout
Any cursed strife
To hold on, to believe
For you gave me love
Tenderly.
