A Hummingbird Came ~ Photo by Patrice

A hummingbird came 
he sat 
on  the stair 
his words were luscious 
I knew he was there. 

The beat of his wings 
the flow of his heart 
moved me to tears 
I bowed down 
I cried 
I cried a lot. 

For no more til spring 
will I hear those sounds 
as snow falls 
baring down 
on a land bleak 
where 
no hummingbird sounds. 

Then 
the snow will melt 
the heavens wake 
and 
on his journey back 
the hummingbird makes.
