Nothing To Say

February 24, 2023

Snow falling on bird feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

Nothing to say, not today
No one comes, no one says
Anything relevant or astute

But then

I look outside and see
The world in all it’s beauty

Snow drifting by
Trees standing proud
Birds flying round

That’s when I realize
There’s nothing more to say
It’s already said

I just need to sit back
Enjoy this spectacular scene
This journey, this ride

I’m lost for words
My heart does sigh
It sees all, it seems.

Morning Doves And Evening Grosbeaks

February 17, 2023

Grosbeaks at the Feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

Morning doves and evening grosbeaks
Ever wonder why the names they got
What they seek?

And how come blue jays cry?

While chickadees speak
Crows caw?

Truth is, that too
We don’t know why.

You Didn’t See Me

February 10, 2023

Rodeo Rider ~ Photo by Patrice

You didn’t see me I know for a fact
Nor did you want me
Want me back.

I slide into the shadows
Paused in a quiet spot
Before heading away from you
And all, all your self-centred thoughts.

I won’t be back and I think
It’s a well known fact
That you’ll never miss me
You’ll never ever, ask me back.

Nothing Really Happens Til

February 3, 2023

Rising Fiddle Head ~ Photo by Patrice

Nothing really happens
Til something moves
Takes control.

Nothing really happens
In the morning bright
Til eyes open
Letting in streaming sunlight.

Nothing really happens
Til words are spoken
From a mouth open
Speaking things we need to know.

Nothing really happens
Til feet move
Heeding the mind’s signals
And control.

Nothing really happens
Til we let Mother Nature
Let nature have the reins
And we let go.

Our Best

January 27, 2023

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Amaryllis ~ Photo by Patrice

We look to do our best
To see the best
And live a life of no unrest.

Sometimes it works
Sometimes we fail.

But in the end
we live, we love
We follow our destiny’s trail.

My Heart Beats Soft

January 20, 2023

Mr. T and Me ~ Photo by us

Slowly hearing
My heart beat soft
Taking in the beauty
Beneath, within
And
Aloft.

No words spoken
No words need said
For all is explained
In a beat so soft
Inside
Instead.

Snow Falls Silently Down

January 13, 2023

Winter Snow ~ Photo by Patrice

Snow falls silently down
Snowploughs roar
Spreading sand, salt
Across roads far around.

Oblivious birds sit in trees
Hunkered down
A fox yips, a crow cries
All says
A winter’s day is on the rise.

I Do Remember

January 6, 2023

My Mom ~ Photo by Patrice

I do remember
Your loving grace
The innocent smile upon your face
Your strong embrace.

I do remember
Shelter in a troubled world
Your ability of slowing down
A hectic pace.

I do remember
A simple kind gesture
Sweetness on your face
A peaceful existence.

All this I do
I do remember.

When I Heard You Calling Me

December 23, 2022

Wishing all Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas! 😀

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Mom and Dad

When I heard you
Calling me
My heart stopped
It skipped a beat.

Tell me why
I can be alone
Lost without you
Near me.

You make me whole
A life to love
With arms wrapped
Around my soul.

Your heart, my heart
Filled with love
Together always
In everlasting love.

Snow Flies

December 16, 2022

Snow Storm ~ Photo by Patrice

Snow flies
And we answer
Why? Why?

Blizzards blow fierce white
Changing darkness
Into a brilliant seeing night.

Cold with icicles
Dripping down
Covering a frigid, frozen ground.

Rivers run underneath
A covering of ice and snow
Sometimes more than a foot deep.

We live thru this
We
We do exist.
