Butterfly

Wood Butterfly ~ photo by Patrice

Butterfly

From my window I see you fly
Crossing by

Butterfly

Your beauty is exquisite
Coloured a wondrous earthy brown

Butterfly

Never growing old
Nor flying far away

Butterfly

In winter’s frozen cold
You fly, butterfly

Butterfly

Etched forever in cedar wood
My very own

Butterfly

Thou I imagine one day you will come alive
Flying with other butterflies

Butterfly

To far away places, warm, full of beauty
Butterfly fly

Butterfly

That’s when I’ll say goodbye
To my precious wooden

Butterfly.

Such A Wonder To Review

May 10, 2019

Faldo ~ GSCC Championship/04

Such a wonder to review
Such a time we had we two.

Nothing came to pass
That hurt or tested our resolve, our view.

Such a time we had we too
Such a wonder to review.

Stingrays Flying

May 3, 2019

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Stingrays flying
In a most beautiful place
In awe, inspired by their beauty, their grace.

Leaping from the sea
Are they jumping in fear
Running from danger beneath the waves?

Not known for sure
For they may be just washing mites
From their smooth, dark face.

Stingrays flying
Leaping
With a particular ballet grace.

When I Felt Your Heart

April 26, 2019

When I felt your heart next to mine
When I saw my life and yours intertwined
My soul was full and so sublime
When I was yours and you were mine.

There I Am

April 19, 2019

Rising Fiddle Head ~ Photo by Patrice

There I am in my robe
Watching closely as the earth disrobes
All it’s ugly, nasty things
Rising up in beauty
Filled with summer and with spring.
Winter’s cold, bitter hate
Melted here, no distaste
Only warm, fulfilling beams
Creating more lovely dreams.

Bless the ground I stand upon
Know it gives me faith true and strong
Trusting I’ll be here long after
Spring flowers fade and go
But memories of what has been
Or yet to come
Will hold my own sheltering robe so tight
That I know I will be safe
On earth’s soft ground tonight.

Sweet Water Greets

April 12, 2019

Hummingbird and Feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

Sweet water greets those flying from the south
A long time since said goodbye
Now spring beckons them to our house
Heavy, sweet ruffled feathers
Shook out to contain some heat
Refilled from drinking that that’s sweet.

Tiny and big spring flowers bloom
Holding up their coloured petals
To the sun and to the moon
Sweet nectar deep inside
Lavish feast for who knows where it resides
Hovering there in spring.

Welcome back my little summer friends
Who harrow spring and winter’s end
Let summer too be about to begin
Trust your journey was a easy ride
On currents blowing up
On south’s humid tide.

We’ll share the warm summer’s breeze
You’ll drink sweet water
Til leaves begin to fall
Then on currents you’ll fly away
Drinking sweet water on your way
Back to a warm, south southern day.

Sometimes A Memory

April 5, 2019

Henry ~ Pen and Ink Art by Patrice

Sometimes a memory
Sadden, falls down my face
Coming straight from heaven
It holds a special time and place
In my heart forever
Starting there, glistening
Upon my face.

Tenderness, Loving And Caring

March 29, 2019

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Costa Rican Tales

Tenderness, loving and caring
Caressing my heart, my life
Tender touch holding me
In warmth
This very night.

Smiling, laughing
Bringing cheer and delight
May you feel love like this
May it hold you safe and secure
All thru your life

Voice Speaking

March 22, 2019

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Voice speaking, crying out
Saying things needed
Feeling all alone
Desperate to know the answer
Seeking to be free
Of ties changing, dragging thee.

Voice may be loud
Sounding almost like a horn
Blowing breath, scattering every way
Or soft and mellow
Holding dreams inside
Being safe, secure today.

Voice crying of things lost and found
Then some stored away
Voice may be laughing, bringing joy
To the day
Holding, hugging souls captured
In the voice’s lilting, loving way.

I Thought

March 15, 2019

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Squirrel balancing on feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

I thought of that
And now don’t know why.

I thought of this
And now I feel a need to cry.

I thought of things
And still didn’t feel a thing.

I thought so
And now I know I didn’t know
Anything.
