I Watch The Squirrels Fight

February 23, 2022
I Watch The Squirrels Fight~ Photos by Patrice

I watch the squirrels fight
edging out one another
for a place at the feeder
for
just another bite.

Sometimes
there’s a truce

Sometimes
a bitter fight

Sometimes
a lone squirrel
eats
til he feels suffice.

Birds keep their distance
stay out of the fight
they wait their turn
a time when
all others have had their fill

All’s quiet

No more anger

No more strife.

Haven’t Found The Words

February 22, 2022
Haven't Found The Words ~ Photo by Patrice

Haven’t found the words
to say things
buried
deep in my heart
hidden
far, far away.

Will they give me
the secret
the key to my life
what needs to be said
what needs
forgiving?

Or

Have they already been said
those words
I’ve been seeking
needing
buried deep
already giving?

Ever Wonder Why?

February 18, 2022

Ever wonder why?
Ever think things happen
On a line
You can’t deny?

Ever wonder why
Answers come
But don’t seem to be
The ones asked
Or seen technically?

Ever wonder, wonder why?

The Knowledge, The Answers

February 2, 2022
The Knowledge, The Answers ~ Watercolour Art by Patrice

Hearing, listening
for
the knowledge
the answers

I need, I seek

It may be tomorrow
or
the day after that

They’ll come

the knowledge
the answers
will appear

I know

Just like that.

Falling Softly, Laying Quiet

January 28, 2022

Winter's Lane ~ Photo by Patrice

Falling softly
Laying quiet upon the ground
No sound tells the story
No wind whispers words
That made snow
Come falling down.

You See

January 19, 2022
You See ~ Photo by Patrice

You see
I’ve been there too
I know the heartache, the sadness
Nothing, no one is left all alone

You see
someone, somewhere has been there too
we’ve never been alone

You see
now you can be for someone else
the same as was done for you

You see
I know you see now too.

Every Time

January 4, 2022
Every Time ~ Photo by Patrice

Every time
I hear your heart beat
my breath is taken away
Every time

Every time
my heart does race
when I feel your love so near
Every time

Every time
my soul seeks
refuge in the love we share
I know I will be safe
Every time

Every time

Squirrel reaching bird-feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

The feeder hangs
Quiet and discreet
Waiting for company
To enjoy her treats.

No bad or evil thoughts
Does she convey
Feeding all who happen
To pass her way.

Filled up or near empty
She stands quietly there
Holding something
She lives to share.

Loyalty Is Something

December 22, 2021
Loyalty Is Something ~ Photo by Patrice

Loyalty is something
We all need
No questions asked, no what ifs
No
None of that.

When the world goes
Full round
It makes sure
All
Is right
All is above ground.

That’s when
I see
My loyalty is to
The earth
All creatures, all things
Including me.

Death Is Overpowering Me

December 10, 2021

Lone Dog – Art by Patrice

Death is overpowering me
Coming, telling me
What to do, where to go
Where to be.

Death is walking beside me
Holding gently, telling me
Souls who go don’t leave
They too, are alongside me.

Death is breathing life inside me
My time will come but not now
Go live a life full of love
Fun and beauty.

This death tells me.
