Imagine Today Is Your Last Day

October 22, 2013

Morning Glory Fall ~ photo by Patrice

Imagine
Today is your last day.

What would you say?
Where would you go?
What would you see?

Would it be beauty
Or misery?

I don’t know
Can’t see
But hope I’d make it
The best day to last me
An eternity.

Pachyderms Heading South

October 17, 2013

Elephants at the Toronto Zoo ~ photo by Patrice

Elephants at the Toronto Zoo in 1986 ~ photo by Patrice

Pachyderms heading south
Heading out
In a truck equipped
No doubt
With everything needed
To trek down south.

Bon Voyage!
Heading out
Not having to walk
Way down south to
A sanctuary
Heaven on earth I have
No doubt.

Too cold here
Should wear mittens
On your snout
Heading south
Yes, Pachyderms
Are heading out.

Travel Far, Travel Away

October 10, 2013

Blue Violets ~ photo by Patrice

Travel far, travel away
Travel from all that’s desperate
Not good for you today.

Travel up, travel down
Make your pleasure
Be all around
Those you love so profound.

Enrich this your life
And be it found on
Travelling up or far away
Is your choice
On this and everyday.

My benefactor does not know
What has happened.

And where I go
My benefactor does not know.

Maddening Anger Washing Over Me

September 27, 2013

Saluki ~ watercolour by Patrice

Maddening anger washing over me
Saddening anguish consuming me
Struggle to shake off
Blend and be
A happy person no matter
Whats happening in and around
Of me.

The Blue Of A Heavenly Blue

September 24, 2013

Morning Glories ~ photo by Patrice

The blue of a heavenly blue
Morning glory
Reigns over all that I recall
Of summer bright
Full
Full of absolute delight.

Dying now settling down
Falling into fall
A beauty of it’s own
Reds, browns golden hues
Contrasting with a heavenly blue
Morning glory
Hanging on into fall.

When summer is long gone
And I can only recall
Those summer heavenly blues
Most of all.

Many The Border Cross

September 23, 2013

Many the border cross
Up to the promised land
Where joy
Wonder are lost.

No one is forsaken
Only lost in a world
Of no glory, sadness
Broken hearts.

Turn around
Turn back
The world you live in
Is not the one lost.

Only your way
That’s the thing
Lost.

A Hummingbird Came

September 20, 2013

Last used April 29/15

A hummingbird came
To my window yesterday
She pleaded and begged
Me not to put away
That feeder which fills
Her each, everyday.

She needs calories
To fly away
On an epic journey
To warm, hot lands
Far far away.

Maybe tomorrow
She’ll leave
Before the snow flies
And the leaves
Are deceased.

So now, today
She pleads
Fill it up, leave it be
Help her get ready
For her long, long
Epic journey.

Nothing Seems

September 19, 2013

Nothing seems to come out right
Even though I work, think all night
Nothings right
Nothings right.
