May 24th Celebration in Jarvis ~ Photo by Patrice

May 24th celebration has gone
used to be festivities
All day long.

Nothing, no more celebrating
Can’t understand
How could all this pass?

Used to be dancing, parties, sing-along
Fireworks and baseball
May 24th celebration, all day long.

Why I Think The Things I Do

May 14, 2020

Foxy Painting ~ Watercolour Art by Patrice

I don’t know why
I think the things I do
Or why sometimes
They come true.

I do know my heart
Loves the way
Nature brings beauty
To me, to you.

To live in joy, laughter
Not thinking anything
Depressing
Or blue.

That’s why
I guess
I think the things
I do.

Everyone Isn’t The One

May 13, 2020

Connie's Yellow Lab ~ Watercolour by Patrice

Everyone isn’t the one
I should have been
Accepting that is harder
Then anything has ever been.

Maybe tomorrow it’ll be
What I want, what I need
But that remains
Remains to be seen.

I am here and you can’t see me
I’m hiding
Hiding in normalcy

I Was The Girl

May 8, 2020

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

* Each day this week, I’m going to be posting writings that came to me in the middle of the night after watching a documentary on Janis Joplin. Whether it is Janis writing these words thru me, or my perception of what I watched, I have no idea. Yours to decide and I hope, enjoy.

I was the girl who stood in the back
I was the one who didn’t say any of that
I was the one who laughed and cried
I was the one who breathed the breath
Who stood alone amongst the rest
Never knowing my heart
I think, I guess.

I Know You Haven’t Seen Me

May 7, 2020

Costa Rican Raccoon ~ Photo by Brent

I know you haven’t seen me
Nor anything I do
Know
I’m just a back screen
Meaning nothing
Nothing
Ever to you.

I know I won’t be front and centre
In anything you do
But then I don’t care
You see
For you’re nothing to me
Or is anything
You ever do.

What If

May 6, 2020

Perplexed Deer ~ Photo by Patrice

Feeling the weight
The pain of
What if

No eye dry as I wonder

What if
I’d done things different
Smiled instead of cried

No answers
Just more questions and insistent
What if’s.

Shinning Sun In The Sky

May 5, 2020

Palm Tree in Blue Sky ~ Photo by Patrice

Shining sun in the sky
Questions answered
Reasons why
The world is well
Giving all she can
No one cries
Tears of rain
Only ones that fall
Nourishing land
Creatures big and small.

I will live in this life
Feeling the sun’s warmth
Now
And into my afterlife.

If I Could Speak And Say To My Younger Self

May 1, 2020

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

My Younger Self

If I could speak and say
To my younger self
The things I know today
I wouldn’t listen to myself
Berate and think I’m not worthy
Of love in anyway.

I’d say beauty doesn’t last
It fades away to something beautiful
Just in another way
What’s important now won’t be
In tomorrow’s day, so let it go
Let it fade away.

I’d tell her she’ll grow old
Live and laugh no matter what
Tragedy may come her way
That all she has to do is just love
Love and live each and everyday.

That’s what I would tell my younger self
If I could speak to her in
Yesterday.

Secrets Are Kept Hidden

April 30, 2020

Gravestone ~ Photo by Patrice

Secrets are kept hidden in the dark
Secreted away in the back of the mind
Never to be revealed to the morning sun
Or voiced
In the depth of the darkest night.

To the grave they are taken
To the grave they will go
Eternity will keep them secret
No one
No one will ever know.
