I saw a chipmunk sleeping lazily
Enjoying the day
Quietly.

I saw a dog splashing
Playing in the water
All alone.

I saw a deer eat seeds
From my deck
Secretly.

I saw a tree fall
Smashing all.

I saw ants marching across sand
With a leaf in their mouth
They ran.

I saw a dog cry
Mourning the loss of one
Who’d died.

I saw a tree upside down
How could this be?

I saw a bumblebee sip nectar
Quietly.

I saw a fawn cry
Plaintively.

I saw a stingray fly
Majestically.

I saw a crocodile up close
So scary.

I saw life abound
But none, not a soul, no one
Saw me around.

Going forward, going forth
Into the distance
Going with the force.
No one is left behind
No one is forgotten
All are with us now.
All will be in heaven
None forsaken
None overlooked or not taken.

Heaven help the ones
Who lead the march
Across desert bare
Filled with trees
But nothing there.
Smoking hot
The earth upon their feet
Sending curses up
To gaunt, hollow cheeks.
No one calls, no one speaks
All is silent
Except for wailing
Seeping, creeping sounds
Calling, calling souls
To their sad defeat.
Let us help
Let us find salvation for
Those who need
Those who cry unmercifully.

Let the heart beat lightly
Let the soul sound loud.
Let its words be heard
Way beyond distant clouds.
Let no man stumble
Nor woman harmed.
Let us all soar
Leading lives that seem charmed.

Amazing place
We live in
Soak it up, savour
Breathe in.
Feel the rain pouring down
The sun soaking in
To the ground fertile and prized
Growing treasures
Where creatures thrive
Live in.
We have it all
We are part of this place
This place, this world
We live in.

Husk falls, dropping to the ground
Seeds of wonder spattered all around.
Dead or dying not necessarily their fate
Taking food, taking strength
From the earth, the ground on which
They were spat, they grow and create.
Slowly, quietly up to mighty trees
Strong and wondrous they unfold
Dropping seeds that too
Like magic wonder, grow.

Picky partners don’t always last
Sometimes they bicker and fight
It goes on and on
For whatever reason it just
Lasts and lasts.
Picky partners need to let up
Knowing being together
Happily
Is what needs to
Forever last.

Stolen from my heart
A sense of love
Forgot
Got away.
Burdened with such
Array of emotions
Can’t hold back
Hold at bay.
Smouldering anger
Burning things precious
Held dear
Stolen, forgotten
Got away.
~ Patrice

Tenderness and wonder
A childlike holiday.
Smiles, kind gestures lead
Guide the way.
Laughter and hearty jokes
Make the hard an easy time
Almost like play.
No one falters
All are in
On their merry, lighthearted way.
~ Patrice
