A Robin Wings Her Way South

November 4, 2014

A robin wings her way south ~ Photo by Patrice

A robin wings her way south

Buffeting winds

That may drive her off course

Today undaunted

She stays focused on her way

Though wind, rain and snow

She goes to the place

Where the sun glows heat

And where she stays

Til its time once again

To fly north

With all her family and friends.

Golden Leaves Swaying

November 3, 2014

Golden Fall ~ Photo by Patrice

Golden leaves swaying
On a November breeze
Floating, cascading down
Landing on soon to be
Frozen, winter ground.

Woods are silent, hushed, listening
To the still quiet as a hunter lurks
Waiting to kill in the midst
Of golden leaves falling, raining down
Upon barren, dying ground.

Now Will Come

October 30, 2014

Now will come and soon will past
Memories will be what will last.

Moving in transition from has been
To that that lasts.

Now can dream, dream at last.

The Day Is Bright

October 29, 2014

Fall Colours ~ Photo by Patrice

The day is bright
With promise from the night
Fills my heart, my eyes
Which see a future
That’s right and mine
To honour.

Conquer those demons
Who want to take it away
Stay in the light
Let those terrors, worries float away
Vanquished by the brightness
In this, the brightest of bright days.

Save Myself, Help Myself

October 28, 2014

Blue Violets ~ Photo by Patrice

Save myself, help myself
Do not accept defeat
Power, strength moves mountains
Higher expectations cancel out retreat.

Now is the time to stand
Stand right on the line not looking back
Accepting the fact that I am
I am.

I am the one who has the will
The power to help and save
That person who I am
This I know, I know I am.

Sorely Saddened By My Loss

October 27, 2014

Horses on the hill ~ Photo by Patrice

Sorely saddened by my loss
So very hard to pay this cost
Of living life with those I love
Now gone, I pay the price
For loss of them in this life.

But

I’ll gladly pay that price again
For the years of love
I’ve been given
It’s priceless even though
I know
I’ll be sad down the road.

Saddened by my loss
Is a price I’ll gladly pay
To have had you in my life
Even if for just a day.

Saddened

October 21, 2014

Butterfly Flowers ~ Photo by Patrice

Saddened by what has happened
Devastated by what is done.

Moving forward with a heavy heart
Feeling as though I’m coming undone.

It will get better
The sun will shine once again.

But for now there is no light
Darkness engulfs a healing sun.

I Can See

October 18, 2014

I can see her body lying there
I can see her breath move up and down
Now between life and afterlife
Her mind is slowing down
She greets the ones who’ve gone before
She smiles and wags her tail
My hand it brings her back
She knows it’s stroke she’ll feel just this once more
With silent eyes open wide her heart it beats
No more. ~ Patrice
