Monster caught
Without a shot
Only a few hundred
Just before
But then he’d killed
Some more.
Now folks can sleep
And get some rest
A monster kills
No more.
His brother dead
Shot in the head
But not before
Bombs blew again
Once more.
Hid himself
The monster did
Bleeding not running
Anymore.
Police had him
In a trap
Then he slipped away
Once more.
Hid in a boat
David’s boat
Couldn’t sneak away
No more.
Bleeding he’s found
Shots exchanged
Bullets ripped
Throughout the scene
Then a silent theme
Once more.
Police quietly hid
And waited til monster
Could no more.
Kill and maim children
Who hadn’t done a thing
To him
A monster is a monster
No more.
People cheered
And clapped their hands
Celebrating far into night
For the fight is
No more.
Cheering police
Thanking them
For risking life and limb
Bringing in a monster
Who won’t kill again
No more.
Monsters reign no more.

I drink my coffee
I sip my tea
I struggle in the morning
Just to be me.
Then in the afternoon
It all becomes clear
Salvation from questions
I have no answers to
No answers for
Those I hold dear.
As night settles in
And my heart quietly rests
I see I’ve been tested
And survived with the rest.

What year is this?
Is it the year
Of my freedom, my triumph?
Or just another disaster
I must and will master.
Creeping, crawling through
The sadness, the madness
Striving for some gladness
To dwell here in my heart
When will it start?
When will all this muddy
Turmoil leave, depart?
Nothing wrong
Just following along
With the throng.
Yes, nothings wrong
It’s just that
Nothings right
In this year
This year of sadness
I’m living tonight.

I see a rabbit hopping
Out along the back
All is quiet, except honking
No one could miss that!
Honking geese as they fly
In for their morning feast
They can’t afford to miss that!
Freezing rain has coated
Covered all
While trees hang in silence
Bowing to extremes.
Not one bird ventures out
Other than the geese
I see no one there about.
Waiting, riding out the storm
We all hunker down
And just sit it out.
