Looking Back Down

August 28, 2011

Stormy Road ~ Photo by Patrice

Looking back down
The road I’ve been
Always knowing I could
Be there in a second
That place I’ve been.

So sad to know
So sad to be
Looking back down
The road I’ve been.

Don’t look back
Turn around and see
A new road
Opening up for me.

Full of promise
Full of majesty
Heartbreak gone
Back down the road
I’ve been.

Merrily We Dance

August 23, 2011

Merrily we dance about
Never giving thought
To what’s gone and
Done this day to be.

We will not see
Our destiny
Only that which
God lets us see.

Enough it is
No more need be
For we dance about
Merrily.

Lily Passed In The Night

August 22, 2011

Lily passed in the night
She did not make it
To the morning light.

Her little body
Moves no more
No hummingbird
To feed, no more.
God’s creatures live to be
And we are blessed
To know and see
For even just a little while.

Go now on our way
And think of her
When hummers hum
And wonder how
She came to be
On the road where
We found she.

Thu sad it be all for now
We shared in magic
For just a little, little while.

Light And Airy

August 17, 2011

Light and airy is the life
That comes and goes
Between the strife.

Snugly warm, cozy near
Bringing dreams
To fruition clear.

Make it mine, make it dear
This life I’ve embraced
With mounting fear.

Not knowing truly if
I do believe in a life of joy
Where I can succeed.

I Had A Friend

August 12, 2011

I had a friend
He was six, I was seven
His house or mine
We played dawn to dusk
Swam in the creek
Or rode a pony
Now that was heaven.

I had a friend
He was six, I was seven.

Sacrifice Nothing

August 9, 2011

Sacrifice nothing
Join in the fight of your life.
Rain patters down in a trickle of might.
The ground is a maze, hard to decipher
Which is right and really does matter.

Relief From Stress

August 5, 2011

Relief from stress
And the dark unknown
Brings a calm, tranquil state.

Relax here awhile
Charge, and then
Go back in the fray.

Tomorrow is another day.

Some Things Get Hard, Even Difficult

August 4, 2011

© Patrice Clarkson – 2011

Some things get hard
Even difficult
And you wonder
Why it is to be.

 You muddle forth
Stepping over
All the debris
That hinders you and me.

Sometimes tripping
Sometimes skipping
Feeling absolutely fuddled
In this mess
My life can be.

Mighty, Grand Sheena Has Died

July 26, 2011

Mighty, grand Sheena has died
Her soft and gentle heart beats
No more
Paws dancing in anticipation
No more
Excited bark calling out
No more.
Treasured years all gone
Emptiness and heartbreak
Agonizing in the night
Mighty, grand Sheena has died.

Remember the happy times
The cottage days enraptured in joy
Always there gentle and strong
Soft, kind eyes
Determination and dignity
So much she gave
Asking only love
Nothing will ever be the same
Because mighty, grand Sheena has died.

Journey on to those already gone
Join them there
Laugh, bark and play
No more aches or pains
And then some day
We will be there
With you once again.

To a great, grand lady
Sheena
We bid our sad goodbye.

The Name Of That Wonderful Person

July 25, 2011

Do you know the name
Of that wonderful person
The one that shared your life
Thru happiness and strife?

Always there, always
Always there to count on
Always there to turn to
In this stressful life.

No need to know the name
It will change for me or you
This person is the one
That is there whenever
You need them to be too.

I thank this person
With all my heart
As you should too
For without them in our lives
Whatever would we do?
