My Heart

September 26, 2018

Diva and Lise Painting ~ Watercolour by Patrice

My heart rules, my heart says
Be the best and then leave the rest
Don’t look for bad nor tolerate those
That bring it.

My heart hears all kinds of things
Water crashing on distant shores
A baby bird looking for some more
The calling of a lonesome wolf.

My heart feels the touch of necessity
A coffee warm, so tasty
The gentle caress from one
So loved.

My heart does all these things
While beating life and breathe
Into everything.

At Last

September 25, 2018

Broken Home ~ Photo by Patrice

Crisis happened, crisis passed
Striving to breathe deep breaths
At last, at last.

Hopeful for tomorrow
Sorry for what didn’t last
Finally I can accept myself
At last, at last.

Lighting Strikes A Hummingbird

Dark Night Tree ~ Photo by Patrice

Lighting strikes a hummingbird
As she sits, sleeping in the night.

Thunder crashes
Wind wails
Rain weeps.

No right is done
When tragedy screams thru
A dark, unforgiving night.

Fly Thru The Air

September 20, 2018

Fly Thru the Air ~ Photo by Patrice

Fly thru the air, fly
Fly like you just don’t care
People know the way
They want to go
Let them be, come
Come fly with me.

To shores laden with gold
All treasures never seen
Never told.

Reach for the sky
Fly, fly soaring high
Mysteries to unfold
Your life lived, your spirit
Precious and bold.

Then and only then
Will your story truly be told.

My Heart Aches

September 19, 2018

Dead Turtle in Costa Rica ~ Photo by Patrice

My heart aches for the life
That could have been
The life cut short for no reason
Other than seemed a good thing
To do in the universal scheme.

My heart aches, my eyes bleed
Nothing is fair that I perceive
Maybe tomorrow sense will breathe
Understanding into all of this
Catastrophe.

The World

September 18, 2018

Watching the Sunset ~ Photo by Patrice

The world doesn’t wait
For what I have to say
It moves forward, spinning
Light, dark everyday.

The world doesn’t turn back
Nor stop in it’s tracks
Because I’ve fallen, fell
While traversing my path.

The world doesn’t care
If I start to cry
There are others burdened heavy
Some have died.

The world doesn’t leave me
Far behind
It holds me, helps me
Giving me all I need
To survive.

Not Alone

September 17, 2018

Wood Smiles and Sad ~ Photo by Patrice

Can’t believe I’m not alone
For there at my side
A presence stays
While I live, work, love, play
And some day, die.

Not alone, never to be
My journey directed
Choreographer, just for me.

I am loved no matter what
I have a place to stand
My back protected
My heart in loving hands.

My protector, confidant, spirit guide
May be those
Who have already lived
And now, have died.

Not that I care from where
They come
Just to feel that presence
At my side.

Will make my road
Smoother, a joy to live
Oh, such a ride!

I Lost My Heart

I Lost My Heart
Somewhere last night
Can’t find it
I’ve looked all night.

It wasn’t in the bed
We slept in last night
Nor on the table where we sat
Holding hands last night.

Maybe on the pathway
We walked just before midnight
No, couldn’t find it
Even thu I looked
All thorough the night.

Then in the morning
In the morning light
I found my heart
Found my heart unbroken
You’d held it in your arms
All through the loving night.

The Wind Comes

September 13, 2018

Blooms in a Storm ~ Photo by Patrice

The wind comes and she blows
Blows winds of disaster
Chaos
A multitude of things untold.

Her mighty strength will subside
Only when her fevered anger
Has run its course
And then she’ll be quiet air.

No evidence detected
Just anguish, heartache
Sadness left
That surely did unfold.

The Sun Shines Bright

September 12, 2018

Sun Flower ~ Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
Morning, noon and into night
Radiating heat
Blending, making rivers flow
Plants grow, the earth breathe.

Life lives because of the sun
Its rays beaming from very far
Bringing life, birthing life
Here and on distant planets
Like so many stars.

Feel the heat, feel the glow
Feel it and know
The sun gives all she’s got
And thou she doesn’t ask
We should find a way
A way to give back.
