Yesterday

May 15, 2017

Teck, in Remembrance

When I think
Of all the things
That have disappeared
Gone away
Happened yesterday
My heart joins forces
With my soul
To help me understand
Why it all had to go away

Yesterday.

I Saw A Hummingbird Amongst Snowflakes

May 12, 2017

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

I saw a hummingbird amongst snowflakes
Shattering life, no respite
Falling into spring cold and shivering
Hovering over brave blooms
As you come to make a summer home
In this land that has no way
To warm and comfort
On this cold spring day.

Fly south I’d say, then wait a day
Before braving storms to come back
To the land you can call
A summer home once more
Yes, I saw a hummingbird
Amongst snowflakes just today.

Rain

May 11, 2017

Thunder Clouds ~ Photo by Patrice

Clouds thunder
Making sounds that whack
Fearful people shiver
Their hearts pierced
By a cold, wet spear
Dark black clouds blow
Souls washed away
In a heartless, driving rain.

Find shelter, find strength
Hold out your hand
Feel instead a soft gentle rain
No sounds course thru
Clouds white, fluffy
Surrounded in blue
Only a spatter of rain.

You are alright
You’ll grow
With this soft, nurturing rain
The sun, it’ll shine
Shine once again
After the rain.

Evening Blends

Evening Blends ~ Photo by Patrice

Evening blends, comes alive
Making darkness
An ever changing tide
Moving in, out of places
Like water’s course
As silence’s breath breathes quietly
Watching, waiting for the conclusion
Of someone’s destiny.

Disaster Has Struck

May 8, 2017

Broken Robin's Nest ~ Photo by Patrice

Disaster has struck
Things have happened
That
Just shouldn’t be.

There is all sorts of remorse
And wanting to deny
What
Has come to be.

Maybe tomorrow will be better
But right now
That
I just can’t see.

Unforgiving Is The Night

May 4, 2017

Dark Night Tree ~ Photo by Patrice

Unforgiving is the night
Waxing in pale moonlight
No remorse echoes
Thru this night
Only lonely wails of moonlight.

Sun will come and shine
Making night a distant time
But til then we’ll exist
We will survive
Darkness hiding in night’s cold, ebbing tide.

I Heard Your Sweet Song

May 2, 2017

Morning Glory Fall ~ Photo by Patrice

I heard your sweet song
Calling all night long
I heard a melancholy refrain
Softly echoing down the lane.

I heard sadness
Filled with gladness
Call out
Call out again and again.

I heard your sweet song
Calling all night long
To those listening once again.
