A Flower

March 1, 2016

Dead Amaryllis ~ Photo by Patrice

A flower wilts
A flower dies
Its life with us
Has said goodbye.

No more joy to bring
Like it once did
All dead, gone
Done with it.

A flower dies
That had a life
Giving beauty, joy
In such a lovely life.

Now is gone but in out mind
We still see
A flower that once
Breathed eternal beauty.

Sadness Again

February 29, 2016

Monty ~ Photo by Patrice

Sadness again rears it’s head
As I think of those we’ve lost
Those that are now dead.

Lived lives we did share
Held them close, loved them
But now despair.

Remember

Remember those gone
Not so much with sadness
But rejoicing love forever long.

A Lot Of Thoughts In My Head

February 25, 2016

Rottie Pups ~ Painting by Patrice

A lot of thoughts in my head
A lot of thoughts
That have not been said.

Swirling, racing round
Racing thoughts
Racing in my head.

Some thoughts I’ve done
Some will rise up
To their vision high
Others will wither, die.

Then too, they’ll become
Just another thought
I thought
In my crazy, thoughtful head

I thought, I said. ~ Patrice

When I Know

February 24, 2016

Vince's Border Terrier ~ Watercolour Art by Patrice

When I know

What to do

My heart

Will lead

My soul

Will show

My eyes
My ears
My hands
My feet.

This I know

I Saw The Earth

February 23, 2016
Mount St. Helens eruption

USGS Photograph taken on May 18, 1980, by Austin Post.

I saw the earth
Come crashing down
Pounding land
I heard the sound.

No one moved
No one gasped a breath
A sound.

When I heard the earth
Come crashing down.

The Bottom Falls Out

February 22, 2016

Wasp Nest ~ Photo by Patrice

The bottom falls out
That’s when I see
The dirty truth
That’s been hiding
From me.

I didn’t know
I couldn’t see
All that sordid, disgusting
Lying
Cheating on me.

Now I’m free
I can see
To help those in the same state
That once held
Imprisoned me.

I Feel The Coldness In My Heart

February 19, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

I feel the coldness in my heart
I feel it envelope me
Turning all to frozen frost
No emotion, no anger, shame or fear
No happiness, laughter or anything sincere
This coldness is all I feel
Here in my frozen sphere.

Let love break the way
Melt sadness, anger all away
Rushing forth with laughter
Keeping coldness far at bay
Drip love down deep within my soul
Making warm caring thoughts
Embrace me entirely all today
Keeping coldness far, far away.

I Know

February 18, 2016

Love and Tenderness ~ Watercolour Art by Patrice

I know the answered answer

I know why

I know how the question answered

I just don’t know

The answers why.

It Isn’t

February 17, 2016

It isn’t what they say
It isn’t what they do.

It’s how I feel it
Thru and thru.
