Death is overpowering me
Coming, telling me
What to do, where to go
Where to be.
Death is walking beside me
Holding gently, telling me
Souls who go don’t leave
They too, are alongside me.
Death is breathing life inside me
My time will come but not now
Go live a life full of love
Fun and beauty.
This death tells me.

All of it understood
Accepting, unconditionally
Still believing
In the grace of God
Forever

The warmth of your body
Comforts, protects me
Gives me time
To see
The answer to all the questions
Filling me.
Then my world
Too
Will be filled with love
Unconditionally.

I’ll be
In the midst
Of another day

When I look out and see magnificence and beauty
I wonder
Why heartbreak has to be.

Fingers trudge
across the page
feeling
the paper’s texture
smooth
hardly any grain.
Will the pen
fill the lines
printed
on this page
or
will it be vacant
unused
crumpled
thrown away?
Fingers hesitate
and then
pick up trusty pen
and say
words that fill this page
with all they want
need
to say.
