No writing this morning
no words to be said
everything left on my pillow
the words, they slipped
right out of my head.

My heart aches, my soul cries
For the loves
I’ve lost
And
Live no more.
The time came they must depart
Leaving anguish
Loss
In my broken heart.
Someday I know I’ll see again
Those I loved
I lost
They’ll be with me forever
Forever once again.

Write
What you need to.
Write
What you feel too
Doesn’t matter if it
Never sees daylight
Only known on pages
Of a book closed tight.
Write
Let it out
Let it be recorded on
The slate that makes you be
What you’ve become
You see.
~ Patrice

Feelings are hard to decipher
anger, hurt, happiness or joy
what are they trying to say?
Maybe tomorrow
I’ll know
I’ll have answers
not known, understood
today.

We keep secrets
We hold them tight
Never exposed
To see the morning light.
We keep secrets
Silent, secretive
They speak not a word
Sometimes to the grave
They’re carried, never heard.
We keep secrets
Untold secrets
We grasp them tight
Feeling the burden
The weight not light.

No one told, no one said
the secrets hidden deep
beneath my childhood bed.
Monsters and thoughts
so deep
didn’t make sense
to a little child trying to sleep.
Only my mother and father
could keep
those things below
my mattress and my sheets.
Letting me just spend the night
counting sheep.

Thinking about
remembering when
life was easy
and
very different
Was then just a step
I tread upon
to reach the sky
and
beyond?
Did I obtained
my desires
or
should I sit back,
sit down
and
begin again?

Courting life, fleeing death
Time passes
Taking no regard for
The rest.
Holding close, pushing aside
All things
I love, despise.
In tomorrow
The world may change
Leaving everything
Just the same.
