Remember when
Life was soft
And
Then the world burst
Spewing anger.
That is when
I fell from my heart
Landing in a den of angry giants
Eating,
Crunching hapless wrens
Cried in anger, feared for death.
That is when
I saw the world
Issue out some justice
My tears were dried, my heart soothed
And
I remembered when.

Remember when a laugh and smile
Were the only thing that made
The day’s itinerary song?
Remember when laughter
And carefree days lasted
All year long
The thought of winter didn’t
Come to mind
Didn’t come along.
Then there was when
A door opened up
And seriousness came along.
No smiles, no laughter
The whole day long
Winter winds blew
And the heart was frozen
In sadness
Crying was the only song.

I have been there
Seen everything
Held my breath
And
Tried not to scream.
Sadness mounts
Envelops me
Reason why
Evades
Not only me.
Maybe tomorrow
All will be ok
Til then
I’ll live thru
This troubling day.

Know the reason why
Only I
Sit in a place filled
With loving gratitude
And grace
Only I
Feel the presence
Of a spirit so strong
Knowing and forgiving
Only I
Is who I see
When I look in the mirror
And see
Only me.

Looking back is not my concern
See the path ahead
Focus on feeling
No trepidation
Remorse nor dread.
Heart holding
Embracing the best
Smile comes
Easing the way
As the sun shines on
Another brilliant day.

Does not help
To know
The best.
Knowing less
Leaves you open
To seek, question
All the rest.

I have not seen anything
I’ve looked and looked
But nothing, nothing.
My soul cries
Hoping to hear a answer
A answer for all these tears.
My feet do walk the world over
Treading, walking
Walking to find sacred ground
Where I can lie
Lie next to things that happened
Long ago, so profound.
Is this my journey’s life
A life lived seeking answers
Where answers are not to be found.
I hope, hope this is not
What will be
Will come to be around.

Heaven, heaven
Oh so divine.
Lose and you are lost
To wander in a quandary
So complex no ending
Will be yours or mine.
But in between
Live a life free and joyful
And the universe will
Come together
