My Beating Heart

March 6, 2019

Wood Smiles and Sad ~ Photo by Patrice

My heart is heavy
She feels so old
So many stories
How many more
To be told?

She ticks and beats
She has survived
She seen joys
She has cried.

Blood fills
Pulses to
My mind, hands, feet
And back thru.

How many more thumps
Does she have
Not mine to know
Just glad I have her
I have
My beating heart.

Nothing Really Happens Til

February 27, 2019

Rising Fiddle Head ~ Photo by Patrice

Nothing really happens
Til something moves
Takes control.

Nothing really happens
In the morning bright
Til eyes open
Letting in streaming sunlight.

Nothing really happens
Til words are spoken
From a mouth open
Speaking things we need to know.

Nothing really happens
Til feet move
Heeding the mind’s signals
And control.

Nothing really happens
Til we let Mother Nature
Let nature have the reins
And we let go.

Tonight

February 26, 2019

Dark Night Tree ~ Photo by Patrice

Treacherous feelings I harbour
Tonight
Anger seething in my blood
Tonight.

Each footstep taken
Keeps me in a raging hold
Tonight.

No answer, no salvation
In the black, bleak darkness
Tonight.

Snow Blows

February 25, 2019

Blowing Snow ~ Photo by Patrice

Snow blows
It leaves for dead
Spring blossoms, warm summer
Where footprints lightly tread.

Deep in blowing snow
Hold fast to warmth
Radiating from the fireplace glow
Now is not the time
To let bird feeders run low.

Snow white
Blowing snow covers all
In cold and harsh
But still we know
Its winter white where
Snow blows blowing snow.

Flowing Down The Page

February 21, 2019

Weeping ice ~ Photo by Patrice

Flowing down the page
Words written by a distant sage
Knowledge knowing
Understanding things lost
Hidden in the midst of all
Which we will understand
We will know
When the written words
Are read
For our eyes will overflow.

Farther Away Yesterday

February 20, 2019

The farther I go
The farther away
I get from
What has happened
Yesterday.

Seeking no remorse
Nothing to say
All is in the past
That I did
Yesterday.

Maybe tomorrow
When I’m farther away
Maybe then
I’ll understand the past
All that happened
Yesterday.

You Are The One, The Special One

February 14, 2019

Hollyhocks ~ Photo by Patrice

You are the one, the special one
That makes me catch my breath
Lost for words to express
The love I have
In my beating breast,

No words remain to take me
Any closer to a heaven on earth
As I lie side by side
With my dear sweet love
The only one I do love.

A love I adore, breathe
And live for
You are the one, the special one
My Valentine
I’ll cherish evermore.

Nothing To Say

February 13, 2019

Snow falling on bird feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

Nothing to say, not today
No one comes, no one says
Anything relevant or astute

But then

I look outside and see
The world in all it’s beauty

Snow drifting by
Trees standing proud
Birds flying round

That’s when I realize
There’s nothing more to say
It’s already said

I just need to sit back
Enjoy this spectacular scene
This journey, this ride

I’m lost for words
My heart does sigh
It sees all, it seems.

I Live In The Past

February 12, 2019

Model T on the hill ~ Photo by Patrice

I live in the past
I see those days
I hear that heartbeat
Unable to make
Those old thoughts
Go away.

But

Not all sadness I feel
For joy and gladness
Support me today
I know I had, had it all
In the life I lived
Yesterday.

Heading Down The Road

February 7, 2019

Horse on a path ~ Photo by Patrice

Heading down the road
Going the way
My small voice saids

She saids,

‘Come be blessed and happy
Come travel on the road
The path you’re meant to be
Enjoy every moment
Let not anything just be
Savour, inhale
All the road has to offer
On this great, lovely journey.’

Come along, join me.
