I saw a hummingbird today
Still here, hasn’t flown away
Cold nights must take a bite
Still here
Couldn’t believe my eyes
My ears.
A hummingbird flew
To the feeder so low
Thought of emptying
Sure all hummingbirds gone
Then there she was hovering
Sitting, sipping sweet nectar
In the cold rainy air.
Still here, hasn’t started
On her long flight
Sleeping thru, keeping warm
In the cold fall nights
Drinking sweet water
Filling up to embark
On a long, arduous flight.
Maybe today will be the day
She’ll fly away
Still
I saw a hummingbird
A hummingbird flew to the feeder
Today.

When I was lost, nowhere to go
She was there
This I know.
Holding still
Sitting quietly next to me
Not on a chair
But a presence
I could feel, I could not see.
Quietly she spoke
Her hand reaching out
Caressing my spirit, my soul
This being called
Me.
She told of things
That would be
She told me I would succeed
She told me, she told me
Everything.
Her voice so calm
Her touch so light
Her presence it could light
The darkest night.
An angel perhaps
A passing soul, who knows
But by my side
She lived, she stayed
She goes.

I don’t know
What the heart doesn’t care
Buried in messed up
I sip from a cracked, broken cup
Tears run
My heart weeps
For the love, the mystery
That wasn’t mine
To keep.

When the rains fell down
The sky was blue
Feeling all the misery
That’s come to you.
Tears of sadness
Heartache blue
Rains fell, not only crying
But to comfort you.

Clouds thunder
Rain parts cloudy sky
No sunlight hits a silent ground.
Lighting strikes fear in a heart
Brought to a sudden
Wakening start.
Rain drops on a tin roof
A pinging ring in the midst of a world
Filled with all this thundering sound.
Life and breathe are brought
Given to a earth parched
Thirsting for that thundering, lighting
Rain sound.

Haven’t found the answer
Haven’t seen the light
Many questions will bring answers
With an illuminating light.
Then when my questions
Are answered
And I can breathe ever so light.
I will look
For more questions to be answered
In that brilliant, all knowing light.

Unholy being
Resting
Resting near me
Teeth long like daggers
Smile sinister scaring me
Breath hisses spewing forth
Nasty, nasty.
I will brace myself
I will be optimistic
Lead my life as if
I don’t feel, hear, smell
This awful, awful entity.

Another month starts today
Another path lies
Focused in some way
On the dream manifesting itself
In all waking, living things.
Gently, quietly step upon the step
That brings all you want, all you need
To the self that sings
Nature’s beauty
Daring, just to dream.
~ Patrice

The sky is beauty
Flowers be
The most beautiful
Anyone could ever see.
Summers’ come
It’s weaving a warm, soft web
Enveloping all spring’s brought
From winter’s dread.
