Peaceful Scene

October 14, 2020

Peaceful Scene ~ Photo by Patrice

Waves of thunder cross the sky
Rain falls obliterating any peaceful scene
My heart wails in anguish
Horrified by what
I’ve seen.

May tomorrow ride the wave
Of sunlight streaming
Streaming across a quiet
Peaceful scene.

And I will rest in peace
Knowing life goes on
No matter what I feel
I’ve seen.

Tenderly

My Mom ~ Photo by Patrice

Tenderly, I think of you
For the world was right
When I could hold you
With no forsaken thoughts
On my mind
As we laughed and talked
And oh so tender
Were those thoughts.

Tenderly, I think of you
You were my world
You gave me life
You showed me how
To navigate throughout
Any cursed strife
To hold on, to believe
For you gave me love
Tenderly.

I Know You Haven’t Been

October 8, 2020

I know you haven’t been ~ Watercolour by Patrice

I know you haven’t been
On my side nor in between
Still I feel
You will come to be
A fan of all I’ve done
All I’ve been.

Held with love
On our solitary path
Loved
Neither left behind
Nor forgotten.

Coming Close

October 1, 2020

Coming Close ~ Photo by Patrice

Coming close
Seeing the design of the heart
Beating next to mine.

Hoping for words
To say the honest truth
Here and someday
When I know the answer
And the question asked
Just yesterday.

See me tomorrow
Later today
Know that I love you
Need you close in my life
Each and every
Everyday.

Hold Me Close, Hold Me Tight

September 30, 2020

Hold Me Close, Hold Me Tight ~ Watercolour & Pencil Art by Patrice

Hold me close, hold me tight
keep the light on
throughout
the darkest night.

Let no one say the words
that cut the heart
no matter
all its great might.

Keep me safe, keep me on
the path that’s right
then and only then my world will turn
and be alright.

I Am Feeling Down

September 29, 2020

I Am Feeling Down ~ Photo by Patrice

I am feeling down and all alone
Feel my heart beat a lonesome tone
Crying, standing in the wake
Of not where I want to be.

Hoping the mists of sadness
Will disappear, leaving behind
A world bright and clear
Full of anticipation, happiness
Not this awful, nagging fear and sadness.

I Saw A Hummingbird Today

September 25, 2020

Lily a hummingbird ~ Photo by Patrice

I saw a hummingbird today
Still here, hasn’t flown away
Cold nights must take a bite
Still here
Couldn’t believe my eyes
My ears.

A hummingbird flew
To the feeder so low
Thought of emptying
Sure all hummingbirds gone
Then there she was hovering
Sitting, sipping sweet nectar
In the cold rainy air.

Still here, hasn’t started
On her long flight
Sleeping thru, keeping warm
In the cold fall nights
Drinking sweet water
Filling up to embark
On a long, arduous flight.

Maybe today will be the day
She’ll fly away
Still
I saw a hummingbird
A hummingbird flew to the feeder
Today.

I Know You Know The Truth

September 24, 2020

I Know You Know The Truth ~ Watercolour by Patrice

I know you know the truth
I know you’ve seen the way
Whatever happens
Happens in this day.

No ones’s at fault
No one to blame
Only glad the day has come
When we have the way.

The way to happiness
Living in explicit gladness
The way to save our souls
Each and every day.

Terrible Things Happen

September 23, 2020

Terrible Things Happen ~ Photo by Patrice

Terrible things happen
In terrible times
Suffer and subjugate
Seems to be the way of life
In this certainly
Not a nursery rhyme.

Will I persevere
Will I see the light?
Questions, answers
Not seen tonight.

Maybe tomorrow
I’ll find my way
Maybe then joy will be
The cloud I ride upon
Spiriting me away.
