Today Or Yesterday

June 8, 2018

No makeup on today
Or yesterday
Skin festering, itching burning
Hives have made their way
Onto my face, my neck
Above my heart
Everywhere it seems
Gasping for some respite
Scratched raw
Went seeking help
Not once but twice
Yesterday.

The world has turned again
For today
I have my peace, my rest
Skin reduced to normal
Not like yesterday
On rising this morning, today
No more itching
Scratching
Like yesterday.

What Is The Way?

June 5, 2018

Fall Leaves ~ Photo by Patrice

Oh my goodness
What is the way
Down the path
Or the road
Far, far away?

My heart doesn’t know
My head can’t see
Yet the decision
Must come
From only me.

Sadly See

June 4, 2018

Sweet Thor ~ Photo by Patrice

Sadly see panic, terror
On the face of one I love
Can’t help
Have to let it be
Pass thru, let it pass
Understand it did happen
But now
Now it’s in the past
Where you can let it be
What it was
What came to be
I can’t know nor understand
Only support and be there
To help you thru
This past, awful memory.

An Old Soul Once Told Me

June 1, 2018

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

An old soul once told me
‘Be kind, gentle and above all full of courtesy’.

Makes no difference that old soul you see
Was a dog I knew
Oh, just so briefly.

Only To You

May 31, 2018

Model T on the hill ~ Photo by Patrice

Silently, quietly my heart speaks
Only to you
Saying words important
To me, to you.

No one crys
Expressing those thoughts
Important
Way out in the far distant blue.

My heart knows not why
But knows
She must say those words
Only to you.

Going Forward, Going Forth

May 28, 2018

Safe and Strong ~ Illustration by Patrice

Going forward, going forth
Into the distance
Going with the force.

No one is left behind
No one is forgotten
All are with us now.

All will be in heaven
None forsaken
None overlooked or not taken.

Giraffe ~ Stipple art by Patrice

You don’t know what I know

You don’t feel what I feel

You don’t see what I see

You can’t hear what I hear

Because

You are not and never will be me.
