You Don’t Know

You Don't Know ~ Photo by Patrice

Of course you don’t know
The sadness, the heartache
I shouldn’t know.

You see the life
That seems to glow.

Sometimes it’s a lie
Sometimes you see I cry
But
Then if course

You don’t know.

Today

August 5, 2021
Today ~ Photo by Patrice

Golden rays of sunshine
Drift thru the quiet day
Today
Is the only thought
For tomorrow does not yet exist.

I Have Heard

I Have Heard ~ Photo by Patrice

I have heard
your sweet voice sing
seen bad weather
turn to spring.

Nothing, nothing is for sure
but with all my heart
I will believe in
the magic of my dreams.

A Butterfly

August 3, 2021
Butterfly and Blue Flowers ~ Photo by Patrice

A butterfly lands and rests her wings
sipping nectar
water
all delicious things.

Then she leaves
flutters away
her bright colours
all on display.

Maybe tomorrow
or
the day after today
she’ll be
on her journey
to a southern land
miles away.

Where there
too
she’ll sip more nectar
fluttering
one flower to another
her colours on display
all those miles away.

Strange Dreams

July 30, 2021

Winter Snow ~ Photo by Patrice

Strange dreams populate my night
They make no sense telling stories
Of places never seen
People I know
But they are in a strange dream.

Somethings seem familiar
In an odd way
I’ve been there
But I can’t tell you
When or on what day.

I awaken quizzing
Just what was this experience
No words to describe
That strange dream experience.

Nursery Rhyme

July 29, 2021
Last used July 29/21

Dismal failure
comes to mind
when I recite
a simple
nursery rhyme.

They speak of laughter
a joyous time
while in my heart
cries of disaster
no merry
nursery rhyme.

Dark place
that’s what I feel
what comes to mind
reciting
nursery rhymes.

My Heart Aches

July 28, 2021
My Heart Aches ~ Illustration by Patrice

My heart aches, my soul cries
For the loves
I’ve lost
And
Live no more.

The time came they must depart
Leaving anguish
Loss
In my broken heart.

Someday I know I’ll see again
Those I loved
I lost
They’ll be with me forever
Forever once again.

We Work

July 26, 2021
We Work ~ Photo by Patrice

We work towards
a good ending
we feel the ending come.

Our hearts are remorseful
knowing
this that’s to come.

Will there be a tomorrow
will it all end
today?

Not ours to answer
not ours
to know in any way.

The Lush Green Of Summer

July 23, 2021

Orange Lily ~ Photo by Patrice

The lush green of summer
Is contentment in lazy, hot days
Brief showers of warm shimmering
Summer rain.

Squirrels scurry away
Hummingbirds drink all day
Sun shinning bright in a clear blue
Summer sky.

All is right
As I lie
My eyes watching summer drift by.

Do You Know

July 22, 2021
Do You Know ~ Watercolour by Patrice

Do you know,  do you know
What I should do
Do you know
Do you know?

Tell me
Please
Tell me, tell me
So I know too.
