Been The One

March 14, 2019

Wayne's Home ~ Photo by Patrice

Haven’t I always been the one
To wonder what happened
That let you in.

Your nasty temper
Your contemptuous lips
Causing heartache
Making life something a long ways
From pure bliss.

I should have closed the door
Slammed it in your face
Laughed at the anger
Coursing thru your body
Contorting every muscle
In your nasty face.

I should have
I should have been the one.

House Of Cards

Old House Window ~ Photo by Patrice

House of cards
Comes crashing down
Never built on solid ground
No ace, jack nor king
Only a queen in mourning.

Not Sure

March 5, 2019

Me and My Shadow - Photo by Patrice

Not sure where the trail leads too
I stop upon the path
As my feet have lead me to
A place of wonder, beyond belief
A place where all can be named
Succeed.

Not sure what I have to say
Know the words will come
When its their day
Flowing out upon the land
Resting with those that need
Need their words, need a hand.

Not sure if I’ll see
The things I must to be me
But then again what if I am
Already there
And they’re already in
My soul’s command.

Have You Seen? Have You Seen Me?

March 4, 2019

Kitten in Thermos ~ Photo by Patrice

I don’t know where and must ask
‘Have you seen?’
‘Have you seen me?’

Lost in the wilderness of life
Adrift in a wake of crushing waves
Wandering thru
Obscure to anyone
I sigh a breathe deep and long
Waiting for the air to come back in
Asking all who’ll listen
‘Have you seen?’
‘Have you seen me?’

Focus On Falling Snow

Snowy Deer ~ Photo by Patrice

Focus on falling snow
Dropping, falling, drifting
Blow.

Filling cracks in heart and soul
Holding softly footsteps
Traced in falling white.

Moving with
No cares in sight
Blanketed in soften, drifting white.

You Didn’t See Me

February 19, 2019

Rodeo Rider ~ Photo by Patrice

You didn’t see me I know for a fact
Nor did you want me
Want me back.

I slide into the shadows
Paused in a quiet spot
Before heading away from you
And all, all your self-centred thoughts.

I won’t be back and I think
It’s a well known fact
That you’ll never miss me
You’ll never ever, ask me back.

Quietly I Walk

January 31, 2019

My Feet ~ Photo by Patrice

Slowly, quietly I walk along the path
The winds and curves are treacherous
Stones and rocks stand out to trip
But finding soft ground
I tread the gentle path
For the entire world can be seen
In this winding way
My own living way, my lifelong path.

What Has Happened?

January 25, 2019

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Filtered Sunlight ~ Photo by PatriceWhat has happened?
What will be today?
No one telling’
Just moving, moving on their way.

Couldn’t hear directions
Couldn’t see the way
Couldn’t, couldn’t remember my journey
From that other day.

Must trust the Master
Must believe, believe he’ll guide me
On this that is
My journey’s way.

I Do Remember

January 22, 2019

My Mom ~ Photo by Patrice

I do remember
Your loving grace
The innocent smile upon your face
Your strong embrace.

I do remember
Shelter in a troubled world
Your ability of slowing down
A hectic pace.

I do remember
A simple kind gesture
Sweetness on your face
A peaceful existence.

All this I do
I do remember.

Where Are We Going?

Where are we going?
How long will we stay?
Are our friends coming with us?
Is our life in disarray?

No answer to these questions
No words will make the wrong okay
All I can do is wonder
Cause tomorrow will bring answers
I’m asking for today.
