To Cry Is Human

October 7, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

To cry is human.
It shows you care.

To laugh is human.
It shows you have joy.

To anger is human.
It shows you feel.

To remember is human.
It shows you have been.

To die is human.
It shows you have lived.

Tenderly

October 6, 2016

My Mom ~ Photo by Patrice

Tenderly, I think of you
For the world was right
When I could hold you
With no forsaken thoughts
On my mind
As we laughed and talked
And oh so tender
Were those thoughts.

Tenderly, I think of you
You were my world
You gave me life
You showed me how
To navigate throughout
Any cursed strife
To hold on, to believe
For you gave me love
Tenderly.

The Journey Begins

October 5, 2016

Winding Dirt Road - Photo by Patrice

The journey begins
Down a winding path untold
Breathtaking exposure
On this the chosen road.

No concrete answers
To questions asked
Feel only wonder
Seeing a brilliant sky at last.

Excitement for
The journey begun
All comes together
Like a well known song sung.

Going Thru The Gamut

October 4, 2016

Last used Oct. 4/16

Going thru the gamut
From frustration and anger
To the highest excellence
And of course all in   between.

What is right to do?
What have I done wrong?
What should I do in the  future?
Not letting my emotions
Be so strong?

The answers to these  questions
Along with those I’ll ask
I suspect in not too long
I’ll hear their answers
Bright, clear and strong.

The answers will be
Whispered in my ear
If I’m quiet, holding still
They will be answered
They’ll come along.

On The Hilltop

October 3, 2016

Horses on the hill ~ Photo by Patrice

On the hilltop
In the horizon
Cradled
By the blue filled sky
I’ll know
The answer
I’ll know
The reason why.

I Saw A Hummingbird Today

September 29, 2016

Lily a hummingbird ~ Photo by Patrice

I saw a hummingbird today
Still here, hasn’t flown away
Cold nights must take a bite
Still here
Couldn’t believe my eyes
My ears.

A hummingbird flew
To the feeder so low
Thought of emptying
Sure all hummingbirds gone
Then there she was hovering
Sitting, sipping sweet nectar
In the cold rainy air.

Still here, hasn’t started
On her long flight
Sleeping thru, keeping warm
In the cold fall nights
Drinking sweet water
Filling up to embark
On a long, arduous flight.

Maybe today will be the day
She’ll fly away
Still
I saw a hummingbird
A hummingbird flew to the feeder
Today.

My Mind Does Wander

September 23, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

My mind does wander
My mind does see
Glories
In all their splendour
From here to eternity
Revel in their existence
Marvel that they be.

Yes, my mind does wander
My mind does see
Beauty all around
Beauty for all to see
Beauty in my heart
Beauty
Caressing me.

Another World

September 14, 2016

See The Way ~ Photo by Patrice

Another world drifting by
Deep, high in the sky
No words said, no lies or cries
Life lived in another way
A world that gives but never stays.

This world’s sky is lit
By that that seems round
Hardened softness no one knows
Nor hears a sound.

Another world far away
So profound
Guides me by day and night
My path is full of light
I tread on gentle ground.

Another world makes me see
Love in this world
No need to be in that other world
My world is all I need.

Autumn’s Come

September 12, 2016

Fall Leaves ~ Photo by Patrice

Autumn’s come
Darkness reigns, life dying
As cold seeps in and leaves fall
Like a uncontrolled train.

Birds are flocking, salmon, trout
Fighting their way up rivers
Not seen since tiny river trout.

Young are grown
Grooming a thick winter coat
Bears sleepy fat, readying
For a long winter, that’s that.

Those staying loading caches
Their bountiful summer haul
Autumn’s come
We also call it fall.

A Home Is A Home

September 9, 2016

Wasp Nest ~ photo by Patrice

A home is a home
No matter where you reside
A home is a home
No matter the size.

A home is where we go
And we share
All that’s important
And shows we do care.

A home is a home
And where we come
To be secure surrounded
With all we love.

Be it with our child
Our brothers, our sisters
Our father, our spouse
Or mother
A home is a home.

No matter where
We roam or stay
A home is still home
When we nestle in
And love one another.
