Don’t know what to do
What is right
My mind is in
A quandary, a plight.
Will tomorrow
Shed some light
On this dilemma
That I’m struggling with
Tonight.
Or will I go on wondering
What’s best
What is right?

What did you say
How did you rationalize
All the people breaching
The Capital building
Yesterday?
Nothing, no one
Can make it seem right
in
Today
Tomorrow
or
Yesterday.

Sing the song you hear in your head
play the tune rhyming there instead
for if you follow all those sweet words
joy will be your reward
love will accompany you wherever you may tread.

I know you haven’t been
Fully in love
No matter what is said
What is seen.
You smile and laugh
You offer your hand to help
But still, still part of you
Doesn’t love, doesn’t feel
Anything.

Let the world turn
resolve the problems
that really are not our concern.
Let the sky be blue not with sadness
but remembering memories not gone
not lost from me, from you.
See the earth tremble
cry in anticipation of wondrous joy to come
never seeing anything but a good outcome.
That’s what we should see when looking out
looking at the world and all the things
that will become.

Beginning a new year
A new day
Leaving all that’s bad
In yesterday.
Bringing with me
Only love and joy
Created there
In my yesterday.

Have I been helpful, have I’ve been the best?
Looking back upon the year
What would I change, what would I let rest?
No time to dwell, no time for remorse
For I must move forward, look ahead
To the year yet to unfold
And
Anticipate it to be full of wonders
Yet to be told.
