Makes No Sense

November 19, 2025
Makes No Sense ~ Watercolour by Patrice

I know it
shouldn’t hurt like this
I know it shouldn’t
be

Still
deep in my soul
my anger festers, rages
because of all
I see

Why does one hurt
another?

Why kill or maim
a living creature
or
another
human being?

Makes no sense
no sense
to me.

You Can Tell Me

November 18, 2025
You Can Tell Me ~ Photo by Lorraine

You can
tell me anything
you want
you can put me
on the spot

You cannot
let me say a word
for
you have
the upper hand

You have
what I have not.

You Can’t Make Me

November 17, 2025
You Can't Make Me ~ Watercolour & Pencil Art by Patrice

You can’t make me
no, you can’t make me
into
someone
I don’t want to be

You can’t make me
sing a song
I don’t like
no, you can’t make me

You can make me
into
someone who loves you
always, forever
unconditionally

You can
yes
you can make me.

Look Back Friday

November 14, 2025

On Fridays, I usually look back two years and revisit something I wrote during this same month. I call it ‘Look Back Friday’
Today, the piece I want to share is a poem I originally wrote for Remembrance Day in November 2018, and first brought back again in 2022. Now, I feel compelled to bring it forward once more and share it with you. . .

I Heard The Wild Goose Call

I Heard The Wild Goose Call ~ Photo by Patrice

I heard the wild goose call
I heard her plaintive tone.

I bowed my head in honour
Of all those left
Left alone.

On the field of war and anger
In the battle
No one wins alone.

I heard the wild goose call
Come
Come bring your brave soldiers home.

Colouring Well

November 13, 2025
Colouring Well ~ Illustration by Patrice

Colouring well
staying within the lines
not deviating
not
causing anything
that could be considered
a crime

Maybe tomorrow
or
the day after that
I’ll scratch across the table
colouring
everything black

Always
outside the lines
asking
whatever could be
up
with that?

We Remember

November 11, 2025
We Remember ~ Photo by Patrice

We remember
we don’t
forget
all those who gave us
this life
we enjoy, we live

In gratitude
we
honour
we give our best
to
those that served

They are the
ultimate
They are the
Best.

I Am Grateful

November 10, 2025
I Am Grateful ~ Creation by Patrice

I am grateful
for the love
I feel
today, tonight

It’ll guide me
through
all heartache
strife

My heart, my head
my hands
my feet
all moved together
with that
an universal beat

All
are grateful
for
this love

Placed
in
our heart
that
makes it move
with such
a lovely
lovely beat.

You Told Me

November 6, 2025
You Told Me ~ Watercolour by Patrice

You told me
told me
how it was
going to be

You told me
told me
but
I just couldn’t see.

You Can Not

November 5, 2025
You Can Not - Flintstone House - Photo by Patrice

You can not
colour
you can not
be
someone
full of courtesy
if
in your heart
there beats
anger
absolute misery.

Misery

November 4, 2025
Misery ~ Photo by Patrice

Let me not begin
to feel
all the anger
misery

Let my eyes see
happiness, gratitude
everything
but
misery

Let my feet trod
on
hallowed ground
let not a stone
make me stumble
fall down

And

Let my hands hold
all that’s right
now, forever
even
thru the darkest night.
