In It’s Grip

March 13, 2020

We’re ‘In It’s Grip’ but not the weather. Stay safe and well

Ice Storm March 24, 2016 ~ Photo by Patrice

In it’s grip
It’s grip so tight
Hearing ice crack
As limbs fight to stay aloft
In the cruel, bleak night
Sparks shoot into the sky
Wires break, electricity dies.

We wait for help, to understand
A world changed, transformed
Across our little plot of land.
No cell phone works
No lights come on
Except from generators
Throttled up, throttled down.

While chainsaws roar cross the land
We do our best
To clean up, to understand.

The Beginning, The End

March 12, 2020

Little Racing ~ Photo by Patrice

Can’t see the beginning
Nor the end
Looking for the answer
Not knowing the question.

Heartache Felt

March 11, 2020

Catlady's House coming down - Photo by Patrice

Heartache felt
Across the world, the land
Will everything be right
Again?

No remorse, only sorrow fills
The body of the man
Lost to the family he once loved
In his home, his homeland.

No more laughter fills the air
Only fracture, anger, loneliness
Despair
Misery shared.

The kiss of love turned to death
Same tomorrow
No future
No one cares.

The Answer

March 10, 2020

Morning Glories ~ Photo by Patrice

I don’t know the answer
Or
The way

Only thing I can do
Is have faith
And
Move forward
On my path

Hopefully

It is the answer
It is the way.

Raindrops

March 9, 2020

Bumblebee Working ~ Photo by Patrice

Morning rain falls
Resting in puddles
All along the path
As rainbows glisten in drops
Radiated by a rising sun.

No ones whistles
For the sound would break
The quiet of raindrops falling
Moist, life giving drops
Soaking into earth parched
From a now brighting sun.

By midday
raindrops have stopped
And are distance memory
In the evening
When the sun begins to fall.

Fulfilling all their duties
Raindrops wait
For another time
To fall, to drip
Most of all, to drop.

Kindness, Tenderness

Rotti Pup and Fawn ~ Watercolour Illustration by Patrice

Kindness, tenderness
All of the day
Hold it close
Don’t let it slip away.

Your heart will thank you
Your soul will say

Kindness, tenderness
All of the day
Hold it close
Don’t let it slip away.

Taking Care

March 5, 2020

Winter Flower ~ Photo by Patrice

Taking care to be enveloped
By love felt in your gentle grasp
Smelling the sweet fragrance
In your breath
As the warmth of your embrace
Takes me to a place
So full of heaven
I never want to leave
Leave this
Your warm embrace.

Hold me til my feet do soar
High in the heavens
No tethers or strings
To keep me trapped
Only love felt in all my bones
With my lips kissed by kindness
I know I’ve found heaven
In this, our love
A love
Only we can know.

I Wonder, Wonder Where

March 4, 2020

Hanging Squirrel ~ Photo by Patrice

I wonder, wonder where
The squirrel at the feeder
Came from.

Where the sun was before
It shone in the sky.

When people thought
That they may fly.

What was said when
The mountains fell.

As a earthquake opened up
And shattered the ground.

I wonder, wonder where
The answers can be found.

I Feel The Wheels Turning

March 2, 2020

Pebbles and Rocks ~ Photo by Patrice

I feel the wheels turning
I know
I’m moving ahead
left behind is the quandary
shall I stay safe
or
go forward instead.

The path is convoluted
many twists and turns ahead
but I know
I feel
It’s the only road I must travel
before I sleep
lay down
rest my weary head.

Sadness Again

February 28, 2020

Sadness again rears it’s head
As I think of those we’ve lost
Those that are now dead.

Lived lives we did share
Held them close, loved them
But now despair.

Remember

Remember those gone
Not so much with sadness
But rejoicing love forever long.
